What flavor(s) of Gatorade are the players drinking?

All joking aside count me as someone who would be interested in hearing about any good surprises coming from spring ball - about emerging players who maybe were not in the mix last season-transfers, new players etc.

Definitely curious to see if Big Ten transfers Krizancic and Hilliard will make strong additions next fall.

For me it is Houchins Jr. & Strobel when he arrives. However, during football's off-season I am good with devoting all attention to the other sports given the the overblown attention it gets during football season.

I'm sure that with the Basketball season over, Arkley will now have some reports on Spring practice. He's only able to be in one place at one time, oddly enough. There will certainly be some developments in Spring came that will be of interest, but those weren't going to play out in the first few practices anyway. Some of the developments I expect he'll report on:
1. New arrivals - who are they, and where do they fit in?
2. Rebuilding of the left side of the offensive line
3. Rebuilding of secondary - with so many players gone, some new names will no doubt rise to the top, but whom?
4. Running back - How will the rotation go between Brown, Irons, and OUellette?
5. The QB position - How is Maxwell coming along? How about Krizancic and Duckworth? Will any of the QBs transfer to another position? Is Windham continuing to improve, and threatening to take the top spot? Has Sprague recovered from a long season, and is he ready to show what he can do in 2016?

Realistically it will be at least a couple scrimmages before any of these questions are answered, and some may not be answered until the fall anyway. We haven't missed anything by not having any reports yet from Spring camp.

I missed the CBI invitation. I haven't had time to check in here much. My apology for the error.

This thread is sort of amusing. 99% of Ohio students and alumni don't really care about Ohio football at all, nada. I'm pretty sure even less care about Spring practice. In the infamous words of Allen Iverson, "practice?!?"

And besides, we're in the midst of b-ball March Madness. I know I am (its bracket time folks!). Football will have its due time.
I guess there are those who wish Ohio had a seven million dollar coach and think they need a monthly Bobcat Illustrated.

I'm not sure what your obscure point is. But thank you.

Yes, we have a very highly paid coach (compared to others at the University) and we wish that he'd produce winning to that level. If he did, there'd probably be a whole lot more interest in OHIO FOOTBALL..which could well result in interest/money which would support more robust reporting or releases about OHIO FOOTBALL.

Unfortunately it looks like What it is, What it was, What it shall be.

Some interesting tidbits in this.

I like the two-back sets that will be added (as I'm sure Monroe will)

Ouellette and White leading charge in backfield....possibly seeing AJ as more of a FB at times in 2016? Doesn't seem far fetched....

Krizanzic splitting majority of reps with Windham as Sprague heals up.

Wonder if Sprague will have to battle in August for job? I'm really hopeful either of these two guys in spring starts to excel this final month to give them a leg up on the job come August. I'm just not hopeful Sprague can lead this team next season.

Holy hell... I can hear the Monroe-gasm from LA all the way in Ohio:

---Solich said after practice that they’ve added formations to the offense involving two-back sets, in order to get more of the running backs in the backfield at the same time.
“We think that will put some of our best personnel on the field,” Solich said.---

Another thing I take away from that article is to notice that Sprague had surgery after the season, to help with an injury. His collarbone/shoulder injury was early in the year, against Marshall, I believe. It follows that he must not have been 100% down the stretch, and he may have re-injured it against NIU.

I'm pretty sure he was not 100% against App State, and that's why I thought it was a bit unfair of some of the fans on here to call him out for his performance in that game. I think that if he recovers from his surgery, and doesn't have a lingering injury, he'll be fine as the QB in the fall. If he doesn't recover, apparently Windham or Krizancic may be the guy.

Nice to see some articles coming out after a week of practice. That's really all I was wanting to see-nothing earth shattering, just basics, and a few things to chew on.

They used two-back sets this year.

They might be adding some additional 2-back sets, or additional plays to run from them. I liked some of things App State did in the running game, so hopefully Ohio can steal a few ideas from that game.

I saw no true two-back sets last year, by which I mean sets in which either running back could have gotten a hand-off such that the D could not have known who was going to get the ball if it we ran it.

Irons apparently third after AJ and Papi.

True two backs sets after all this time. Pathetic that it took so long...Yet it seems that here that is greeted as a mark of truly splendid coaching. Horrible.

Irons is really our third best back? Could be but I find it difficult to believe.

So to be clear, they are wrong for not using two-back sets. And they're pathetic for implementing more two-back sets.

If there is no favoritism, how is AJ and White number 1 and 2 when they have not started hitting yet. If Adrian Peterson walked into camp, he would be number 3.

Who is saying they are? The writer says Ouelette and White figure to lead the charge in a crowded backfield. But there are no comments from the coaches.

Yes; pathetic for no prior. Sad that many here will view it as sage and perfect to do it now...after sooo many years that it was so obvious that we should do it, that so many of us called for it.

Think about it. Most here raved at the abundance of talent we have at running back. But we didn't think to put two of 'em on field at the same time.

I've deadhorsemanytimes said that would lead to the D not knowing which of the two would get the ball, not being able to, at least somewhat, key on one guy. No one here has ever disputed that notion to my recall.

To make many of you happy and to show that I'm an equal opportunity misanthrope, I hereby wholeheartedly and with vigor and venom disagree with myself.

If that's the case why wasn't this so called "best personnel" on the field together last year? What has changed? It's the same backs right? Or am I missing someone that has been added recently.

Evolution. Your two-back set, with both backs used as running options is easier to defend than most other sets Ohio uses. When I hear them referring to two-back sets I expect them to be sets including "White" that begin looking two-back and through motion create mismatches to Ohio's advantage. I reject the Monroe Doctrine that two "running" backs creates significant advantages in this age

Nice to see some spring ball news.

Like others I am mostly looking for an update. No idea that Sprague had surgery and sitting out Spring practice.

Good to know about the changes on offense too.

While it is true that conventional 2 back sets are largely a thing of the past for that exact reason (games have become much more wide open and higher scoring, and less oriented to two-back power), as I said in a prior post, App St did some innovative things to run the ball while preserving passing options, so I hope Albin and Izzy can find a few things they can steal.

I find it ironic that we continue to have this retro argument. The argument I would have expected is not "why can't we go back to the offense of 2005-2010", but why can't the offense become more wide open, like the Bayor-BG offenses.

Myself, I think that if they can rebuild the left side of the offensive line, and I think they can, this is going to be a very good offense.
