I saw an 8 second video from the Athletic department on twitter. It was a panoramic view inside the IPF.

I mean it was actually 8 seconds! No voiceover no nothing.

Awful , just awful.

No offense but really, who cares about practice other than the coaches and the players on any given team.

I would care if anything significant was released about them-like injuries, changes in positions, new players who impress, etc. Pictures of players running around, not so much.

Next Saturday there is a scrimmage. Should we expect some coverage?

Are any fans interested in spring scrimmages or the Spring game?

Maybe it is only important to the players and coaches. Fans should just butt out.

There is rarely substantive information and the basketball teams deservedly are getting attention. Usually the lifting award winners are announced in late February. I do not recall those being announced. Last year the new football team captains were announced around March 17th. Still, I am thankful Ohio remains Ohio vs the circus that is OSU or Alabama.

Yeah, most of us wouldn't want to be the national champion.

Thank you for being the voice of OHIO FOOTBALL.

Without you, we wouldn't understand that it's more important to have Solich than to achieve.

It's clear most BA'ers ignore your drivel and don't reply. But at times your posts are so unintelligible that one can't ignore them. First, Ohio will NEVER will a national championship in football. Next, "more important to have Solich than to achieve"? Huh? Really? You, who rants about FACTS seem to ignore such.

Let's go back 75 years to when Bill Hess took over in the late 50's and we can see what the FACTS say.

Hess 20 years 54% winning percentage
Kappes 1 year 27%
Burke 6 years 48%
Bryant 5 years 18%
Lichtenburg 5 years 14%
Grobe 6 years 50%
Knorr 4 years 24%

Solich 11 years 57%

So we have the guy who's done the best as far as winning running the program. Never mind he's the biggest 'name' we've landed to run the program. And all you do is whine. Go root for UCLA or USC if you feel our program is so mediocre.

Get into it. Really.

Then, try presenting other stats like years each coach was here, number of titles each won, the number of crashing huge losses each experienced in the last third or so of their tenure.

Also consider, that if you compare Solich to guys who've only won at, for example, 28% clip then he's the greatest coach ever. But if you're standards are slightly higher--one MAC title in 11 years--maybe you're less reverent.

Which of these did you enjoy more by our terrific coaching staff in their 10th and 11th years:
14-49
17-41
24-62
3-20
14-44
10-28
13-31
21-42

The point is that nobody finds it outrageous that there is NO coverage of spring practice. If you want me to care in August then you have to give me something now.
If you want me to renew my season tickets, I need an Ohio football fix now.

PLease don't take me for granted. I hate that!

As you, I wholeheartedly look forward when, after Solich is gone (by whatever means), the criteria is announced for the search for the new coach: Must win about 57% of his or her games against a quite weak schedule and can go 11 years without winning a MAC title.

Because, having put a lot of $$ into the program, we don't want marked success. We want more of the mediocrity.

I would say that Ohio has put very little $ into its football program. Walter Fieldhouse and now Sook Academic Center are built mainly from private donations. And please don't say Solich is being paid a lot of $. The guy isn't even in the top 90 as far as FBS coaches go. (I mean, to you and to me he's being paid A LOT of money but in the world of major college football it's nothing)

The source of the funds makes a difference?

While Solich may not be paid in the top 90 of coaches, 1) he's about the topmost paid employee at OHIO UNIVERSITY (or very near there) and 2) it doesn't matter what he's being paid--expecting better performance after 11 years (espec not the stuff of the last 4 years) is reasonable...all I want is one MAC title.

(That junk about oh, then you won't be satisfied until you have two is junk. And, do it, challenge me. Win that first one. Then, we'll see.)

Aren't the SFB getting tired of making up any excuse that can be made up. Isn't it time for a MAC Champion...long past time for someone with such a long tenure?!

I agree with you. Having no coverage on spring ball stinks. Give me something. Nothing. No promotion of anything. It's sad. We should have some kid in the journalism school or sports administration program who likes sports and wants to make a name for himself. Get involved with the football program and let us know what the hell is going on out there. I guess our school doesn't have the next Chris Berman or Al Michaels. Bummer.

Agreed. What other sport has an off season practice that has media coverage. Enough is enough - it's practice. And the guy who threatened to not renew his season tickets because there is no coverage - that's almost funny.

That's fine if that's your opinion on Chris Berman. The fact is, most major school have a TON of spring coverage. If you guys are fine with it, so be it. But OU has great facilities, a great campus, a great fan base. Why not reward that fan base with a little promotion in the off season? We want info, we want excitement. You're telling me that it's just "practice?" LOL, listen Allen Iverson, I dont care if it's just practice. This is the 21st century and OU has a journalism school and sports administration school. Don't tell me that some kid can't do some work and get info out to the public. Holy cow, are you saying that status quo is fine and college kids should just go uptown and have a beer? Yes, they can do that (cuz I would), but gimme an upcoming journalist who has some ambition to give us old men some info like the other big schools that we can compete with. Spring ball is fun, players emerge. We want to hear about it. 🏈

We and our local newspapers have limited resources and most of that has been following Men's and Women's basketball and their actual season/tournament at a very busy time for them.

I bet Arkley will have some kind of coverage soon.

This thread is sort of amusing. 99% of Ohio students and alumni don't really care about Ohio football at all, nada. I'm pretty sure even less care about Spring practice. In the infamous words of Allen Iverson, "practice?!?"

And besides, we're in the midst of b-ball March Madness. I know I am (its bracket time folks!). Football will have its due time.

I guess there are those who wish Ohio had a seven million dollar coach and think they need a monthly Bobcat Illustrated.
