It’s amazing how all of a sudden Albin is a total villain. We’re not even sure exactly what happened, how bad he was treated (if he was) and all this in spite how authentic he always seemed. Did he turn out to be such a despicable human being all of a sudden. It looks terrible on so many fronts (still waiting on some kind of response from him), but I can’t put my brain around what just happened and why.

I am sure he couldn’t control when the news would be leaked. Also see my post above. He was not being treated the way he should have been and I am one of the mad fans. We need to be pointing our fingers else where. He did so much for our program in the 20 years he was here.
If he was treated so badly why did he constantly thank Cromer and Gonsalez (and Amy Dean)??


It was painful watching him try to speak at the Charlotte presser. Toastmasters would help him a lot.
LOL because he had to. Everyone would love to watch you speak in front of that many people.
No, actually he didn't need to.

LOL. It wasn't 10,000 people he was "attempting" to speak too. A relatively small room or maybe 60-100 people. He looked like he'd rather be having a root canal than speaking.

been pouring over all of these posts and it's amazing the anger (or fake internet outrage) that people have over coaches and players leaving. This is the environment we are in now. Faking outrage or having real outrage about this seems like a giant waste of energy.

I was in Detroit and the drive back to Cleveland was a breeze. Then I stop for a beer and see that Tim is gone. Did that take the shine off the MAC title? Maybe a little. But I was a student during the Lichtenberg era. This title is worth Tim leaving. I will never fault anybody for doing what is best for him/herself in this era of college athletics.

Live in the moment, celebrate the victories and remember that you are blessed to have attended or be a fan of Ohio University and not the other schools in Oxford, Columbus, Kent, etc.

Maybe he felt 20 years in Frank's shadow was too much - or more likely - like I keep saying - he just married his first girlfriend. Has he ever interviewed anywhere else in the last 20 years? They wooed him and he jumped. You expect either party to put out a press release saying as much?

Yep. Someone - thankfully - bumped that thread of Ablin's extension and predictably people were not happy about it then - to see now that people are flummoxed and enraged about his pay and expected her to not only extend him further than 2026 but give him $1M at that time is pretty funny.

Yeah, I'm not mad at him at all for leaving. He can do what he wants. I also believe his dog was sick. I also don't believe that his dog being sick was the only reason that he got off the bus. I totally believe that Charlotte warned him that it had been leaked and he didn't know how else to handle it. I suspect that he planned to address the team after the celebration and circumstances prevented that. He should have said something though. This wasn't that right way to handle it.

Just like Mark Sears, the exit was done wrong. I don't get all the hate for Sears. I still root for Sears. I still hope Albin succeeds. But his exit was done wrong. I'm not going to dwell on it.

Yes, I saw the thing about the sick dog, etc. etc.

yes, this whole thing could have been handled better. And I don't want to diminish those that are hurt by this decision, specifically the players on that bus who brought us home a MAC title.

But as an alum and fan...Today it's Albin. Two years ago it was Sears. Next year it could be Boals. As others have said. it happened. Time to focus on the future.

Right. Saturday should have been remembered as the greatest day in Ohio football history. There's only so much Tim can do to control a news leak, but it did happen, and knowing the players and students there to greet them couldn't be in the complete mindset to properly celebrate, it puts a gray cloud over the win.

That’s not fully true. He addressed them at a team meeting on Sunday.

This is coming from an Athens Messenger reporter who has spoken to Albin more than 99+% of this board and more importantly, I would bet he has had contact with the players.

I’ve never meet ANYONE who knows Tim Albin and his family that doesn’t think they are absolutely wonderful people. But the way this went down was a fumble of epic proportions.

Worse than before a bowl game. He did it with a meaningful game left.

I don’t know the man, but being polite is not the same thing as having good morals and self awareness. I hope he feels some shame.
