We are going to have to play some aggressive defense and throw some long balls. Conservative play calling will not get us a victory.

Alright. Alright. I'll say it.

We're not in Kansas anymore.

But we're handling Tenn much better than I thought we would. Our D has been swarming at times, although if their QB was better we'd be down a couple TDs at the half.

We gotta take better advantage of turnovers and field position. We need to get 6s, not 3s.

Arkley just tweeted that Dorian Brown is questionable for the second half.

Same was said on radio broadcast. Amazing how the running back depth has disappeared. Basically down to Papi White and Vinny Emanuele.

4th and what, 6 with 13 ticks left, 57 yard field goal try and OHIO punts. I think that would have been a very good time to fake the punt for a 10 yard gain and let the next three be attempted.

You are a wideout on punt coverage and d is blocking you down the sideline. Just call a pass play to the guy and it may be a flag and first down or forget the attempt at a penalty and either run it or pass it for 10 yards.

Don't get the first, well turn it over on downs with about 8 seconds left and the only thing they can do is hope for is a Hail Mary or a long interference call--which is still only 15 yards and doubtful if their kicker has Zervos genes to make it from there with little time remaining.

15-14 at half with a fake thrown in would have been sweet.

Punting question: are the low line drives a strategy for this game, bad punts , this punter's style, or other?

Thanks in advance from an observer but not an expert on punting.

That's if it works. Conversely, if it fails Tennessee has great field position and perhaps time to increase their lead and more importantly grab momentum heading into halftime. In a game like this field position is everything.

Of course, what do I know, I predicted a 42-10 Tennessee win.

Tennessee is playing into our hands, they will never run us over. We can meet their physicality on both sides of the ball. It will come down to skill players, who will make the plays? Our weakness is our bd's and they don't pass well. We need to hit Cope for a long one. Go Cats

Surprised there wasn't a review on that Tennessee touchdown.

Looked like a clean TD to me from all angles. He took several steps with the ball before getting it knocked out after the play was over.

Yes. After I saw it a few times, I agree. But in the NFL, would he have had to complete that through the ground?

That was not a touchdown, he bobbled it and dropped it as he rolled to the ground.

Agree completely. But Solich ball is paralysis of possible adverse consequences, despite only 13 seconds left before the play and our D playing well.

The odds that we'd make the field goal were low. The odds that there'd be bad adverse consequences from the field goal or faking going for it by pass or run--low. But Solich will never go for it.

Too bad; what a psychological advantage if we get points there.

Why was there no timeout to set up a play on 4th down? It was clear that we weren't doing anything but an onside kick if we scored anyway.

I believe it was done intentionally to eliminate return opportunity. Seemed to work pretty well overall. 42.4 per punt, only 5 total punt return yards. Can't ask for much more.

I posted elsewhere but Windham continues to impress. Sebastian Smith was awesome. Hagan stepped in and did well under fire. The D was great in first half, especially if you take away the opening drive by Tenn and I think Laseak played just one series. Just hoped those banged up aren't too bad and get back quickly. We need Irons or Brown back soon. Secondary can't afford any long term injuries. Temps may have started to wear the guys down later in the game. Great effort.

Happy they didn't get blown out but there are things the coaches need to address:

1. I don't know if it was Windham, or the receivers, but too many balls thrown where the receiver wasn't.

2. Do they run fumble drills in practice anymore? Jeez, get a couple of those and today's result could have been very different.

The Bobcats played tough, we expect to win these games like Coach Solich said. The players are not happy, but they may be somewhat satisfied and as a fan I am proud they hung in there, obviously I wanted us to win and there are no moral victories, there are just wins and losses. I know thhey wanted to come out in the second half and get the W, we will get them next time.

Disagree about there only being wins and losses. I grew up with "Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory." This was a game for these players to remember with pride, heads held high. In a few years I will not even remember the score, but, I will remember the game.

This winning is all there is has resulted in Florida State, after a loss, leaving the field without so much as a "good game" for the other team.
