From everything I'm reading one of the major reasons Albin left was how the situation was handled by J.C.

If that's so JC needs to go.

If the comments are true, she obviously doesn't have the best interest of O.U. athletics at heart.

Everyone posts about how much Albin loved Athens.
Yet it seems the AD was able to sour that relationship to the point
where the coach left.

I heard this is all about Rufus. As a cat, clearly Rufus was disrespectful to the Albins’ sick dog.

Fire Rufus.

I do think this whole situation needs to be investigated by the upper administration. Something went horrible wrong, and the guilty parties should be shown the door.

I'm not sure how these things work, so maybe I'm wrong here, but I'd assume that the AD doesn't have the unilateral ability to increase Albin's pay to the level reported. I'd assume Gonzalez was aware at every step, no?

The new money and extension were 100% Gonzalez's call.

Uh Oh, watch out. Calling for firing Ms Cromer might lead a particular clown on here to call you a sexist.

rpbobcat's been saying the same things about Cromer since she took the job, and nobody's called him sexist yet.

Senile? Yes. A blatant hypocrite? Also, yes. But not sexist, so you can rest easy.

As they should have been. Offering that kind of pay increase definitely should have been run through Cutler, as Gonzalez would be the one to feel the heat from faculty.

I thought the same thing, lot of rumors floating around but not sure what comments are being referenced here.

I suspect the answer is "the comments that fit into rpbobcat's narrative, but not the ones that don't."

There are a bunch of posts on Ba about the strained relationship between
JC and Albin.

As I posted, if Albin loved O.U. like people have posted, what happened
to make him pull up his stakes and leave ?

Worked in several college athletic departments. You better believe the President/Chancellor has the final say on stuff like this. The AD just doesn't walk in and say "Hey, we're signing Timmy O'Shea to a 5-year, $20 million deal. Please have the Business Manager move the funds over ASAP. Thanks!"

The relationship became strained because she showed no respect to the man. How do you allow the 2 time MAC Coach of the Year, one of five coaches to win 10 consecutive games three consecutive seasons and no MAC coach has won more conference games than Coach Albin the last four years to walk out the door?

Currently, ONLY five (5) FBS programs have won 10+ games in each of the last three seasons (since 2022):

• Georgia
• Ohio
• Ohio State
• Oregon
• Penn State

The Bobcats just won their 1st MAC 🏆 since 1968.

Tim Albin has done a MASTERFUL job at Ohio.

Just go to the site search here and type in "fire Albin" and you'll see many of the same posters here wanting to fire Albin back in 2021. There's a thread started by Bobcatlove titled "All I need to see from an Alum - Fire Albin". SBH replies "I could not agree more". DocBobcat adds "I concur".

Could probably find a lot more like this if you had the time.

Who knows, maybe Albin hasn't been happy since not getting a sweet contract after year 1.... And now that he's in the drivers seat he drove off.... Maybe long gone presidents and board members didn't want to spend the money. Maybe Julie Cromer didn't like Albin's dog.

None of us know. But, there's probably a lot that went into where we are now. Not just the current AD disrespected Albin or she alone refused to hand over the right amount of cash.....

But we supposedly said we'd match any offer that UNC-Charlotte made. We were not in a bidding war with Alabama or their ilk here. In this case there is clearly more to it than just the money, or the available NIL dollars. I don't pretend to know exactly what went down, but somebody, somewhere and somehow did a masterful job of screwing things up, and my money would be on Julie Cromer as the culprit, or at least the lead perp.

Again, we are 6 weeks removed from playing one of the worst football games of my lifetime at Miami, and we were nowhere near MAC Title contention. 8 weeks removed from having the team completely blown out of the water by a bad Kentucky team, and quitting in the process. The Syracuse game set College Football Coaching back 5 years. I have my issues with Cromer and Gonzalez, but I wouldn't have given Albin an extension before the MAC Win either. WE HAD ONE GOOD REGULAR SEASON WIN all year. You people are crazy. Blame Cromer and Gonzalez for the right issues - losing Albin is not one of them. Losing him to Charlotte, ok, I grant you that....but overall, the product on the field was just not good. Also, how quickly we forget the jump Rourke has made in 1 year with Cignetti vs 4 years with Albin - night and day. We are playing in a garbage conference - it's just not all that impressive.

OCF- what you stated above is correct! This isn't all about money. It was a total lack of respect. It was a monumental blunder!
