I'd have no issues if Les decided he'd like to return to his home state of Ohio and coach the Bobcats once Frank decides to hang it up in a year of so.

TJ Fleck to LSU. That is unless they would take Candle from Toledo.

A MAC coach directly to LSU would never fly. But PJ Fleck to where LSU gets their coach from isn't a bad bet.

So how long before Notre Dame fires Brian Kelly and the Tom Herrman bidding war starts?

These SEC teams just don't realize how good they have it.

I wouldn't want Brian Kelly at OHIO if he paid us a million dollars a year for the privilege of coaching the Bobcats. The guy's been an arrogant SOB everywhere he's been.

I agree. Just don't care for the guy as a human.

As much as I loved the high life that was UC football when he was here, I have to agree. The way he just dropped the team after the best season in school history is why I wish there would be some revisions that restrict coaches being able to be poached away until after bowl season. This would likely require some revision to the way recruiting takes place, also.

I know more coaches than not pack their bags on the drop of the hat when the big offer comes but it just really causes a lot of issues for teams (and the universities that sinks millions into putting a successful team on the field).

As for Les, he has probably already been signed on by the SEC Network until he finds a new gig. If the Scotsman landscaping guy doesn't work out for Scotts, maybe he can be their new talking head?

Read somewhere yesterday that LSU still owes Miles somewhere in the neighborhood of $11-13 million. The amount of money the big schools make is insane.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Miles take a year off and then end up at some school like Purdue or NC State.

LSU is probably the only school crazy enough to hire Art Briles too. So they probably deserve each other.

We have artificial turf. Les don't graze on fake stuff.

I was listening to some of the reports of Miles' firing.

The reporters were saying that he's lost a couple of top QB recruits because he likes the QB under center, and the recruits wanted to run the "spread".

Another big problem he has is clock management.
Seems to be a problem with a lot of coaches.

I know a lot of pro teams have coaches just for this.

Problem is,head coaches still have to listen to what they're told.

I don't think he's even won a conference championship at Notre Dame.

LSU's OC Cam Cameron, also fired, made more money last year ($1.5 million) than our entire coaching staff, and because he had a 3 year deal, I believe he will keep receiving his pay for the next two seasons.

LSU (and the entire Louisiana state government for that matter) is not in the best financial shape right now either.

The people of Louisiana are waiting on that trickle down. But this money will be made by private contributions and you can bet that the money was in hand before the decision was made.

Yesterday morning, there was a picture of a private jet with purple and yellow stripes and LSU painted on the tail parked at the airport in Morgantown. WVU fans are getting very excited that LSU may have an interest in Dana Holgorsen. I will be interested to see how this whole thing plays out. I suspect Pete is correct and Fleck will take a job created by LSU's opening.

AGREED on this. This is one of those things that should be changed in every sport. Other schools talking to coaches before the season is completely over for their team, i.e. the last practice and/or game has been held for their team, should be banned. There's no way in the world any coach should ever be allowed to leave for another job before their team's season is over.

Employees have the right to leave anytime they choose, regardless of how inconvenient it is to their employer. I think a coach that leaves before their season is over has the right to do that, but also shows what kind of integrity they have.

I guess I don't disagree with this. I'm more in the camp of the NCAA allowing competitor schools to make contact to hire away a coach while he or she is still in the middle of their season. There should be NCAA rules in place to prevent this just like there are NCAA rules in place about contacting recruits. We're talking about the difference of 3 weeks in many cases.
