Actually I thought he would've had the 1st down had he read the play correctly-the left side looked open but he cut right instead.

Monroe. Never played the game, have you? Tough, tough, tough football game. The players deserve praise for one hell of an effort today and this is what you lead with? That is all you got? Typical Monroe, I expected nothing else.

Did you have that typed earlier and were just waiting to submit?

Would be really cool to see Papi put in Eric Metcalf (only saw him as a Brown) situations against a bit slower LB's. Doesn't seem like the offense has schemes to certain players strengths. If Papi is the explosive weapon we think he is a significant number of plays have to be designed for him.

Whatever. In the last two games, has Papi, who's light in weight, made any
yards running?

If you need any explanation as to why that was a horrible call...and typical of the Solich staff...then I can't help you.

Does any other staff in football make that call in that situation, espec given that we'd not run particularly well today?

Papi in space, in the slot--yes.

UTM on a key play like that, no.

Bcat2 your apologist stuff is embarrassing.

Monroe is WHY we need an IGNORE feature.

That said, I congratulate the team for how well they played. They hung with Tennessee all day. And we played with some backup players .. being down our 3 top RB's and having to use a walk on certainly hurt. And we lost some secondary guys .. Hagan played well stepping in.

I continue to be impressed with Windham and Smith was outstanding.

Would you have rather run that play for someone else? No one else was left.

It was 3rd and 1. No matter the call you'd find reason to criticize. Had Windham thrown an incomplete pass you'd second guess that.

We weren't likely to win at that point needing 2 scores. Think you'll EVER compliment the team or staff?

I agree that we generally played pretty well. I'm not sure that we can play too much better.

That said, I'll bet some reasonable stakes that Tenn is not ranked in the top 25 at year's end. And, Windham, bless him, is just too inconsistent, therefore limited.

But all that is not the point. The point is that, in a game in which we'd played quite well and still had a chance, we went Papi UTM on perhaps our biggest play of that game.

And that call at that time was horrible and so typical of this coaching staff.

Another call? Yes, probably a pass. One with a run fake. Maybe a roll out. Maybe a two back set with Emmanuel (sp?). Maybe a run starting with qb under center. Maybe a receiver in motion and hit him with the snap for an end around.

BUT NOT PAPI UTM.

Did you all really like that play?

Stick it, pal. I'm entitled to root for my University to win a championship. My criticism rarely runs to the players. I don't blame guys for not being better than they are.

I do question the coaching strategy...because it's so often so questionable.

Where does being a fan mean that one must always, 100% of the time be a shill and refrain from analysis?

Would you prefer Vinny, a walk on, to run that play? Or a pass needing just a yard? We were limited in running backs so we had to go with the highest probability guy to make the yard we needed.

You've questioned Windham since the season started and it began with him having thrown just 53 passes last year. But the FACTS (which you may not like) show he's generated almost 800 yards offense so far. Not too shabby. Averaging over 6.7 yards per rush. Passing for a little under 200 yards a game. Yet you say he's 'limited'. He's had quite a few passes dropped so far this year.

Let's be honest Albin is not the best play caller and he did not have all of his options. I thought he should have been more aggressive on the first three drives. Albin did take some shots. We have to get Cope and the tight ends involved. Please don't beat me up, just being honest.

We just need to leave Monroe alone in his wisdom. He will respond to himself.

Back to Monroe's original post, in hindsight yeah maybe another play would have been better but who knows? Remember, by that point, late in the 4th quarter, Tennesee's defensive line was having their way and were getting to Windham's with ease. OUr o-line was just being manhandled at that point. Windham's just had no time to throw and no way our wide receivers had time to run their routes.

Maybe some sort of misdirection play would've worked but Ohio was down it it's 4th running back.

Hey, GO BOBCATS!!!!

Asking that was unnecessary. The answer is obvious. I agree it was a tough, game, and it's a shame that AJ wasn't able to play.

Yes, I do believe the OL has a little extra juice when #45 gets the play. However, I was hoping to see the #4 behind the #21's lead blocking. Though, still more games for that.
