I really dislike the placement of the team benches in the MAC. It is just one more thing our 2nd tier conference does to pander to a few that got their feelings hurt. Place security in the student sections if they're breaking the rules of acceptable fan behavior. it is so awkward watching both teams have to criss-cross the field in order to get to their locker room. I prefer the visiting team's fans to be on the 10-20 yard line behind their team and the home team to be on the press box side closer to their locker room and fans. Is the MAC the only conference in the nation that does this?

I wish our bench was back in front of the reserve section. I would rather listen to our coaches and players than the other team.

As I look at the ticket map, I looked into this "construction area". I didn't realize Miami had an indoor facility that recently opened. When I look at how they've built their "IPF", it seems like it was incorporated with Yager stadium from the start. I sure wish that would have been done with Peden and our IPF to create a better look, and maybe a more effective use of the space.
I have posted this before only to be scoffed at. Missed opportunity to maximize OUR dollars.
Just a slight problem...there isn't room for our IPF at Peden to incorporate it the way Fiami has. Unless you want to put it in the river or on top of South Green drive...

Not scoffing, as I think it's a neat idea, just not very executable without some kind of major stadium re-build or significant impact on Walter Hall...cue stadium improvement discussion here:
You're right that there isn't room for our facility to have been incorporated in the same end zone location that Miami's is.

I'll counter that it couldn't have been done better, and included a lot more than was done. A renovation of Peden facilities (restrooms, concessions, points of purchase for OU gear, locker rooms maybe, etc) could have been included as part of the plan, even if it had to be executed down the road when money became available. It's water over the dam at this point with the IPF, it's just something I noticed.

I'd hope they've thought some of this stuff through with regard to how the Sook center will be incorporated into the existing stadium though. There's a nice opportunity to improve the feel and basic amenities in the stadium with this project while also making a major upgrade to the academic facility for student athletes.

I just found out that I can't come to game, so I have 2 front row Phillips section tickets and a green lot parking pass. PM if you're interested. Price negotiable. I will mail to you ASAP.
Your Phillips section Peden tickets won't do you -- or anyone else -- much good. The game is in Oxford! ;-)

At least there won't be long lines at the bathroom or concession stands if anyone uses his tickets this Saturday.

Figured that, but since this was the Miami game thread, I thought I'd give you a hard time. All in jest, of course.

Weather is looking really dicey at tailgate time and possibly even the game. I may forego tailgate to pregame uptown.

I'm thinking rain will work in Ohio's favor, since Ohio has the better rushing attack on paper. Of course, since it's a mystery who the running back will be, we don't know what the Ohio running game will look like.

This would be a great game for Irons to get healthy, and to start showing that he can be a great running back. I'd love to see him with 150 yards when the day is done.
I don't disagree...the thing I find odd is that I haven't seen (or heard of...) any long-term plan for Peden. A plan could land anywhere on the continuum from a basic renovation of the bathrooms, new bench seating, and changes to make sure nothing else falls off, to a fancy new stadium. At this point, I'm not even advocating for a particular approach, I'd just like to know that there is a plan. Right now, it seems as if OHIO is taking an "on condition maintenance" approach, or if something breaks, fix it...sort of...

So, I need to get the hang of the quote feature, OU_Country.

Back on topic. I hope, at a minimum, Irons is healthy enough to share the load with Hardy. The fact that he was dressed last game encourages me. Then perhaps Brown could get and extra week of rest and we can have the full complement (minus AJ) available against BG. Of course, I'd prefer to be pleasantly surprised with the return of more than just Maleek.

I'm also interested to see how Heath Harding is playing for Miami. He's from Dayton and was a standout player on both sides of the ball for Dayton Christian. His commit decision was between Fiami and OHIO, he attended the 2012 game that I would rather forget, and went with the Redchickens. It would be interesting to get an honest perspective from him as to whether he would have preferred to play right away and have very little success as a team, or probably redshirt with OHIO and enjoy successful seasons and bowl games.

The quote thing is easy to use. Even better, if something goes wrong, and your post doesn't appear the way you intended it, you can edit it, and change it until you get it the way you want it. I love that about this board. Kudos to Ryan.

To make the quote work, at the beginning of the section to be quoted you should have "quote=AlumDadDad", but enclosed in square brackets instead of quotes. At the end of the section to be quoted should come "/quote", again, enclosed in square brackets rather than quotes.

You can nest quotes by having two "quote=JohnDoe" or whatever, at the front, and then two "/quote" at appropriate places. Just keep editing until you get it right.

Not suggesting it's location should have been in one of the end zones. I would have positioned it differently behind the student side and used it to create a new concourse with some of the amenities you mention.

Glad to see LC got the explanation to you on the quote feature. It's sometimes debatable (in my own mind) whether it's better to quote, especially when the quoted text gets lengthy, or just reply referencing the individual who you're commenting towards.

That aside, I'm with you both on Irons. I'd love to see him get a chance to carry the majority of the load tomorrow and have a big day. Here's to hopin'!

I figure that any game this year where the opposing team (like Miami)has a passing game will make it tough for Ohio. I just hope that we have enough running backs that we can have some long time consuming drives.
I guess to a degree, this was the sort of point I was trying to make when referencing what I hope they've done when planning for the Sook Center. Make the stadium at least look like there is some semblance of a plan for the whole facility. As it is, it could have a feel of a bunch of independent structures stacked around a football field, and they'll call it a stadium. Having not seen the renderings for the Sook Center in detail, I'm just guessing.

I didn't think you were suggesting that. I certainly wasn't, and I completely agree with your approach on the positioning and concourse creation. Even if the extra ammenties or concourse wasn't part of the initial budget in the project, it should have been mapped out in the design process to allow for it when the budget was available.

Maleek, Windham, and Sebastian will give us plenty of offensive punch. Rumor has it that Dorian may be better than "questionable". Key is whether our DBs can handle their big receivers. Oxford has a decent little Brewpub by the way, nothing like Jackie O's, but good for Oxford.
