This team just finds ways to win these important MAC East games and Ohio is a lock to get to Detroit. You can book it. Not even a loss to Toledo can derail Ohio now (Akron has to play Toledo yet too). It's a two horse race between Ohio and Akron. Even if Akron comes into the regular season finale with a slight edge in record, Ohio will win for the 9th time over the Zips and earn the MACC berth. Ford Field, here comes Ohio!

I am not ready to say we can be Akron, we need to improve our play or we will be 6-6

We can lose to CMU and Toledo. As long as we beat Buffalo and Akron we're in the MAC title.

Akron only has 1loss, if they only lose to us they're in if we lose to CMU. And Toledo.

Well, Ohio doesn't have to beat Akron at its place, because the game is in Athens.

Akron also has been finding ways to win as well. I wouldn't be so quick to sell the Zips so low. Zips shut down Ball State in the second half in a game where it looked like Ball State was going to run for 450 yards on the ground. Kent State game the Zips were down 4 with 1:22 left on the clock, and scored a TD to win the game in 4 plays.

Ohio vs. Akron is the game I'm looking forward to most this season. I'm hoping for two teams looking to go to Detroit. :)

We played poorly at Kent with 3 turnovers and 83 penalty yards compared to Kent's performance of 0 turnovers and 20 penalty yards with a QB able to rush for 159 by himself and got the win. Will we play a clean mistake free game and defeat Akron? Or will will shoot ourselves in the foot with the pressure on with a division title at stake?

Assuming Ohio and Akron lose to Toledo then Ohio can go into the Akron game with a record of 4-3 and win a division title at 5-3 with the head-2-head over Akron. The winner could play WMU or if they are out of gas against Toledo a rematch of Toledo in the MACC. Let's not leave it to chance and control our destiny starting Thursday with an upset against Toledo.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but my wife and I will be on our way to California to celebrate Thanksgiving with our daughter and other family members and Monroe said he can't come the other direction to take our seats. So, two empty seats in the Phillips section. ;-)

I know this is very Monroe-esque, but who cares if we just make it there?

If you don't win the Championship game, it doesn't matter if you made it to Detroit or if you finish 6-6. It will get you the exact same thing.

Actually, it will be the smallest crowd of the season. Miserably cold Tuesday night in November, two days before Thanksgiving. Thank you, MAC, for selling your soul just to get on ESPN8.

You haven't caught on to his constant sarcasm directed at those who think we should build a newer and bigger stadium and who think OHIO could become another Boise State?

Look, even I'll admit that getting to the title game has some value usually.

If we are good and beat good teams and thrash lousy teams and the brand of ball is exciting.

So far this year, this 12th year, though, that's a no, a no, a no and a no.

But your seat is already sold, so you're there in spirit if not in body.

If there were more than 8000 season tickets sold, there will be 50 students, the 110(250 or whatever it is), 25 Akron fans. So I expect about 8325 official attendance. 1800 actual including me-yes really.

This is what I was thinking. I'm confused why anyone thinks differently.

I see it like this: If Akron happens to beat UB, BG, and Toledo before coming to Athens, we'll need to win two of three leading up to the Akron game. Is there a tiebreaker or something I'm not understanding?

Zips really have the easier road from where I'm standing. They get 1-win BG at home, while we go to CMU.

Yes, but I think people are operating under the assumption that we beat Buffalo, and lose to Toledo and CMU, which would give us 3 conference losses heading into the Kron game. Then assume Kron beats Buffalo and BUGS, and loses to Toledo. They have 2 conference losses heading into the game with us.

If we beat Kron, we have identical conference records, but we hold the head-to-head tie breaker and go to the MACCG over them.

You are right, though, that if Kron beats Toledo and we can't score an upset over one of the West teams, Nov. 22 won't matter.

Before we kick off this year I said OU and Akron will battle it out. I still believe WMU will lose to Toledo for some odd reason. I just think Hunt and Swanson will give WMU fits. We will see. But I still think OU vs Tokedo in a rematch in Detroit. We have to take of business these next two weeks.
