What do you mean by "back into the East title"? If we beat Akron, we will have beaten all the other teams in the East. We beat Fiami head-to-head, so we win it ON OUR OWN.

What?...Yes, there's freedom of association. So, if you don't like what you see here, no one's forcing you to read all of the posts/posters or to come here.

And I find this thought of "some of the garbage throw(n) in your face" to be way off base. Heck, the discourse here is only even slightly argumentative.

The most sensitive person's feelings cannot be the standard.

CABobcat--I enjoy your stuff, too!

Monroe, cool down. I was responding to Alan's remarks about Facebook, not necessarily Bobcat Attack. Most of the stuff on here is way more civil than Facebook stuff.

"We won the stats tonight and lost the game .... you can't blame Frank and the coaching staff for 4 turnovers. Then again, you never played the game."

Yeah, because we wanted to win the stats and didn't really care about the score. Of course, if I had played the game, my posts would merit but, as anyone else who posts here and hasn't played the game, my posts couldn't possibly have merit. And, of course, the coaches have no responsibility in this. I love your stuff!

"Couple of thoughts/questions:

1. Do we ever target the tight end in the passing game

2. Our offensive system justs beats the hell out of our QB's. Has been going on for years"

Much agree. Well, I will if you can verify that you played the game. Because your points can't be valid if you didn't play.
Geez, you have trouble comprehending the most basic things. Since you've been on the bandwagon for years to get rid of Frank I merely pointed out that Frank is NOT responsible for 4 TO's. That's on the players.

Never is, huh? Pure teflon.

I have such a bad feeling about the way this is playing out. It feels like 2010 again, with the East seemingly clinched, except WHOOPS nope, we fall on our face and Fiami (FIAMI!!!) sneaks into the MACCG. Hopefully I'll feel a lot better about things around 11 pm tonight. But I really don't want to go into next week's game vs. Kron with the division on the line.

Go Bobcats.
CMoney is prescient! If you happen to know the numbers for the next lottery drawing.......

This is a pick 'en in Vegas. We can put the trap game thing to rest. This is a big game on the road against a pretty good team that has a win over #13 OkSt.

I expected CMU to be favored by 2-3 points, but given that Ohio has been hot lately, and is rested, and given that Ohio has played very well on the road all year, I can see how it's a pick 'em. Here's my thoughts:

CMU's offense versus Ohio's defense:
CMU has one of the worst rushing offenses in the MAC, and Ohio has the best rushing defense in the MAC. Note that when their starting running back, Devon Spalding, has run for over 100 yards, CMU has won, but when he hasn't, they have lost the last four times. Spalding is questionable for Tuesday, but even if he plays, I don't see him getting 100 yards. If they can't establish the run, and I don't think they can, that means that from the start, CMU will have to be one-dimensional, and the front seven will be looking for sacks. CMU has one of the better passing attacks in the MAC, but because of the lack of a running attack, they have given up a lot of sacks. I expect they will give up a few more.

Ohio's offense versus CMU's defense
Ohio has a balanced offense, and CMU has a balanced defense. They have a solid defense, above average in the MAC, but one thing CMU doesn't have is a lot of sacks. Thus Maxwell or Windham should have time to throw. With an above average MAC offense against an above average MAC defense, I expect kind of average results. Ohio averages 29.3 points a game, while CMU gives up 29.3 points a game, so the high 20s sounds about right.

Special teams and turnovers
Here Ohio has a clear advantage. Ohio is averaging over 40 yards on punts, and only 2 touchbacks, while CMU averages only 35 yards a punt. Ohio is hitting 80% of field goals, at 20-25, while CMU has hit only 38.5% at 5 of 13. Ohio is +9 in turnovers on the year while CMU is -6 on turnovers. If the rest of the game is even, Ohio should win based on special teams and turnovers.

Summary
I see a hard fought physical game. The key for an Ohio win will be how much pressure Ohio can get, and whether Ohio can stop the CMU passing attack, plus how few big plays they can give up. I think the defense will hold up OK, and come away with the win. I call it an Ohio win, 27-21.

Or, CMU is a pretty mediocre MAC team (sorry for the redundancy) and if we're any good at all then we win this one for sure. Maybe not by a ton of points. And a loss doesn't matter too much as we sure have the inside track to win the MAC East. But a loss here just would not be good.

It's the time of year to take care of business. It just is.
No matter. If they win, your first take will be about some disappointment you perceive.
And no matter if they lose, your first take will be about.....oh wait.

You disappear when they lose.
Well. I'm waiting?

Bring out the carrot sticks and orange slices and tell us how eveyone deserves a ribbon for playing so hard, but falling just short against a great, great team like CMU

This team could have easily went flat in the 2nd half. On a positive note in a loss, we fought hard to keep ourselves in the game on the road. First conference road loss as well. And this years squad doesnt blow people out but they dont lose by alot meaning they do give themselves a chance each game.

They are a battling team, much like your 2006 Bobcats. That's why I think they will not quit, and they will take this loss out on Akron.

The way this game developed with a very good CMU team on a three-game losing streak, and our long-time troubles at CMU, this game appeared to me to be our toughest game on the schedule, so far. Still we had a chance to win it, and probably would have without that fumble on the 1st down in scoring territory on our first drive. We were heading for a TD, or at the very least a FG, which would have given an entirely different feel from the beginning.
Very good teams are NOT .500 10 games into a season.

Anybody who follows sports with any degree of intensity knows that sometimes very good teams go into tailspins for obscure reasons only to rebound. That happened to CMU. I watched their game against Miami in the second half. The team that got off the bus for that game did not look like the team we played last night.

You are trying to sell us a yugo for $100,000.00. CMU is a decent team, a very good team would have put us away. They are the third best team in the MAC West, maybe 4th, EMU is looking decent as well. Very Good is laughable on any other site, but on this site where we look for moral victories it just false and somewhat assuring. That being said, we are down a QB, two running backs, we lost our top five corners. The truth is we lose our focus around this time every year, we start missing tackles, the dropsies start to get us and Albin is just being Albin. We need to pass better and we need to defend the pass better. We have to stop making goliath's of the MAC west and start playing good football against them. For this staff to stay largely in tact for the last twelve years, we need to do better against winning programs. FS is loyal, he may need to upgrade his coaching staff

Monroe & B44 in their element. How many posts have they sent just in response to their own? Nothing like them after a loss. Love it when they tell everyone all these games that should have been wins. Again, sorry the team is letting them down. They are owed so much better.

Gotta be happier when one ignores reality, when one sticks to a viewpoint despite abundant contrary evidence.

Reality? Something you continue to ignore. You know absolutely nothing about football. Rather, you are an insecure narcissistic alum who craves being the focal point of Ohio football. But your lack of intimate knowledge and experience, cause your credibility to be severely lacking. Did you ever see the movie Dumb and Dumber?

I guess this is what causes some of the moderators to censor, end threads. No need here. mid70s is amusing; I'm enjoying this.

Never saw Dumb and Dumber, but I profited from my older brother's (OHIO UNIVERSITY alumni) pithy advice: "Hey, stupid, don't be incredibly stupid, stupid!" (corollary: Reasonably stupid will do.)

I don't know what frequency of using this play would be most effective, but it's not the first time we've used it. That's the play that tied the game late against mother !@#$%^ texas state. and I've seen us use it a few times since. specifically the fake swing pass then hit the middle screen.
