Mere math alone indicating that we should win a title once in 13 years in a 13 team league, then being disappointed that we haven't won a title in 11 years is truly, truly an unreasonable and inflated expectation.
..

Does that mean that Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, Rutgers, and Maryland should all win the B1G every fourteen years or so? Should AMC have outsold Ford and GM every three years? Or, is it possible that there are structural differences that cause results to be non random, thus leading to the B1G to be dominated by OSU and Michigan, and to AMC trailing consistently?

My belief is that success breeds more success and failure breeds more failures. I believe that to turn a consistently bad team into a consistent winner takes time, perhaps many years. How many is required? I'm certainly open to considering alternative answers, but I think that zero is the wrong answer. Whatever you think of Solich, I think you'd agree that in his time, many pieces have been put in place to make Ohio a consistent winner in years ahead.

At this point I'm enjoying this season, and rooting for this to be the MAC year.

Good point. Look at tonight. We're on the way.

Look, we may turn around and win this. But how blah can we be in a big game deep into the 12th year.

At some point, L.C., at some point, even you have to admit that this is far less than stellar.

I'm listening to the announcer talk about how good the CMU O line is... no it's because our D is spent. Our offense is non existent since the first drive. Either 3 and out or fumble it.

The O HAS TO stay on the field longer than a minute and give the D some time to rest.

Im glad we called 3 screens on that last drive. It widens the defensive line that Maxwell can see the lanes and eventually runs into field goal position. We need to keep CMU off balance more in the second half. 17-3 is not awful on the road. We can comeback from this. On defensive I would like for us to not man blitz so much. Rush is NFL accurate. We need to zone blitz and force tips and overthrows. The field goal was much needed for confidence and to keep it a 2 possession ball game. More screens and eventually a screen and go deep. Also CMUs defense plays my Colts defense. Notice how they all are 5 yards off and they back up 2 steps. Anything thrown up front they rally. We need to get them out of this by running seams with tight ends and drags and slants across the middle. They are trying to stop the run.

We are giving up huge cushions. Akron would kill us with those cushions.

Our DBs are playing loose man coverage. We need to zone blitz so #23 csn play an area and make Rush throw the best throw everytime.

L.C. Either you have no standards or you don't get it. It's the freaking MAC...

So, you're saying that since it's the MAC, the distribution of championships should be random. Does that jibe with reality? Yawn....

Now, go Bobcats.

Entire mis-read, O Acceptor of Mediocrity...annually 4-7 teams ain't in it. IF we're any good at all...and most years we don't stink...then we should win it once every 6-9 years.
If you took a Stats class I would guess you didn't do very well. But I love how you change your assumptions and criteria so that you can always be RIGHT!

Looks like the break didn't help our injury situation. Why not play Hardy at RB?

Maxwell could use a little help from his Oline. A three man rush by Central and they collapse the pocket. Heck, their front three cause as much pressure as OHIO rushing five and blitzing two!

Anyone still want to say we are a lock for the division?

We are showing NO signs that we want to win this game at all.

Unless we wake up, I expect the Akron game to become HUGE.
And it should be huge. You earn a championship. Play BIG next Tuesday or go home...no Bowl....just badketball.

Gotta agree with Monroe tonight. Year 12 and this coaching staff doesn't appear to know how to make adjustments that can keep the offense on the field. Same crappy plays over and over. What a miserable first half of football. If we somehow manage to win the east, WMU will destroy us.

You've clearly proved all of the following:

1) a revered coach needn't win a MACC in 11 years in the weak MAC and,

2) it doesn't matter if we win a MAC title, and

3) we've clearly won a satisfactory number of titles under this revered coaching staff in 11 years in the weak MAC.

You are doing it!

We don't have anything else? No adjustments, nothing else in our offensive playbook to turn to if our regular package, our planned package isn't working?

Every conference has WEAK teams. What part of that do you not comprehend?

A MAC title would be nice but the success we've had the past 11 years is pretty decent. Just compare our record to our peers.

Those screens and deep play actions will keep CMU changing defensive lines now that we scored in a screen. They will start to wear down. Lets pound and mix in a deep throw to Reid for the TD to tie the game next drive.

It won't matter because we can't get to rush and he'll make us pay every time.

Ref helped with the tackle!!

That fumble recovery would have been nice... However it's much better than another CMU TD.

Another who'll accept no MACC from this staff FOREVER.

Way to be happy with us in the company of the WEAK.

Why didn't Maxwell run on 1st down inside the 20? It looked like he could have picked up 10 yards with ease.

I thought he was faking the defense on a pass to run for the first down. They kept backin up. Tough loss but we have to win next week or hope for a Miami loss to Ball State.

Thanks for choosing to NOT address the facts (all conferences have weak teams) and our record over the last 11 years is near the top of the MAC.

And you love Ohio? Is that why you had no clue Treg was playing overseas?
