They are getting 13 days between games to prepare for our banged up offense. I wouldn't bet Ohio scores 42.

Ohio has scored 30+ three times.....

in 3 OT vs. TxST
at HORRIBLE Kansas
at Toledo (31)

I have ZERO faith this offense can generate 40+ unless they play 3 OTs again.

What part of I have no idea what I'm talking about do you folks not understand?

There's a possibility I picked our correct record before the season in the prediction thread and missed the correct winner in most of the games. That's how bad at this I am.

Wow, it really is. I didn't realize how bad it was until I looked at the stats. They're #120 in total ypg allowed, #116 in rush ypg allowed, and #112 in ppg allowed. Their passing D rank is better (#85 ypg allowed) but it looks like that's because every team they've played since WMU has been able to run at will on the them.

Hmmm, I wonder how healthy our RBs will be by Tuesday.....

You forgot that we scored 37 vs G-W (yes, I know it's 1AA), 30 vs BG and 31 vs Buffalo. That's six times, including four at home.

Given that Akron has given up 38 to T'erd, 45 to App St, 35 to Fiami, 41 to Buffalo, 48 to Toledo and 38 to BG, I like our chances at getting 30+, and maybe 40. (I didn't mention the pasting WMU gave them.)

IMO, the App State game is the interesting one to look at, since I think there are some definite similarities in what we do and what App State does.

(They only gave up 13 to Fiami. They scored 35. That's probably Kron's best win on paper right now, although that was when Fiami was still in their funk)

If Ohio can run the ball successfully, its offense is pretty good. This is game in which it should be able to do that.

I think Ohio will be about a 10-point favorite and hope they'll bounce back and win by more.

We should win this game by atleast 14 pts. My only concern with Akron is JoJo Natson. He is #2 in the nation in Kick Returns and #4 in Punt Returns. We need to bottle him up and get minimum 4 second hang time on punts. Other than that we should run the ball and mix a few passes effectively. Coach Dixon was the WR coach at NC State when Akrons Defensive Coordinator Amato was at NC State. I think we win 35 - 17. Let the cannons go off....let the fireworks go and fire up a cigar! Here we come Detroit.

Will be tough to do with the students gone. Between this and the Miami basketball game after the students are gone for spring break, you have to scratch your head on the scheduling.

Given the way OHIO football goes, Akron will probably play its best game of the year. My hope is we play better. I will make the trek from Cincy because I want to see at least one more East title before I leave this earth.

This game makes me nervous-I have no idea if Ohio will win or not. Which Ohio shows up? The Ohio that beat a then one-loss Toledo team on the road or the team that turned the ball over 4 times and fell behind 20-0 to CMU? I can see Ohio winning this game big; I can also see Ohio losing this game. I have no clue.

Rearranged my entire schedule but for the first time ever I will make both weeknight games from Canton. Looking forward to the possibility of an energetic crowd.

I'll be there too. But I don't expect much of a crowd, despite what's on the line. No students. Probably about 6-8k is my guess. Welcome to midweek MACtion. Total garbage. Play this game on a Saturday, 18k minimum.

I can see 12-15K actual butts in the stadium. I remember the 2011 Miami game when we already had the East wrapped up. No students on campus but the community showed up well.

This shapes up to be a lot like the Buffalo game. The teams are about even offensively but Ohio has a decided edge on defense. Akron's real weakness is its rushing D (worst in the MAC) but it has one of the better pass defenses in the league, on par with Buffalo's. Oddly enough, we picked Buffalo's pass defense apart pretty well. Akron's edge could be the extra time off. As we found with CMU, teams on a slide often use the extra time to get their heads in order. But Ohio has more on the line with this game, so I think we should score 30+ on Akron and come away with a win.

I'm hopeful students show up. There seems to be a buzz on social media. I think classes run through Tuesday so you will have kids going home but dorms would hopefully be open until Wednesday? Or do dorms close Tuesday?

I noticed that special vouchers were sent to students in some of the schools here in Gallia County for 2 free seats and additional seats for only $5. I'm not sure how far-reaching that offers was made by hopefully they were sent throughout southeast Ohio. Most public schools in the region only have school Monday and Tuesday this week. The weather looks like it'll cooperate as well. I'd love to see a large crowd there for the game. One of the few games we've had there this year where both teams have something to play for and should be motivated to play well.

There'll still be students around. A lot of students aren't leaving until Wednesday. While some classes are cancelled, they're still scheduled to be in class this week. I'd say there's a pretty good crowd at least for the first half.

Nice article on former St. Edward lineman Jake Pruehs in today's Messenger. http://www.athensmessenger.com/sports/ohiouniversity/iron...
