Think about the parents of these kids. They presumably followed their children's athletic careers through pee-wee, freshman, JV and varsity football. They proudly walked across the field with their sons before last year's high school "senior game." Son gave mom a rose. Took their sons out shopping for clothes, dorm supplies, etc. last summer. Bragged to anyone who would listen that their sons were granted D1 scholarships.Got up early every Saturday this fall to drive down to Athens or other destination to watch their kid pretty much stand on the sideline. And now this - first quarter of college and their sons are in jail on a felony charge.

Ready was a St. Ignatius grad. The other lineman was out of Cincinnati Colerain - two proud programs with good kids supported by strong families. What the hell happened?

I can't imagine what those families are going through right now.

Maybe this will force them to put Papi back there, like he should be on every kickoff.

I am a fan of OHIO UNIVERSITY, and, because of my love of sport, I love the OHIO Bobcats. My first love, however, is the university. It was most literally my first home away from home. There have been many times during the tenure of Frank Solich where I have been disgusted by the behavior of our players (and once, by the behavior of our coach).

Please do not throw out the 85-105 boys, there's bound to be a bad apple in the bunch argument. I am in charge of 50 adults. Have been in this position for 6 years. Do you know how many of them have ever been arrested for a felony? NONE. ZERO. NOT A DAMN ONE.

I know these three do not represent the entire team, but this is an embarrassment. My first thought is that the reaction should be that we should turn down our bowl invite in light of this, as we should first get our house in order. I think it would send a strong message that our university does not and will not tolerate this. I am beyond disgusted by the acts of these three boys. I am disappointed in our team.

Too often on broadcasts, we hear about the unimpeachable character of Frank. I've met him, he seems like a really great man. However, there is little to back up the assertion that he builds character in young men. We have seen so many crimes during his time (albeit a decline over last couple of years). On the field (much less egregious), we have seen ridiculous and undisciplined penalties time and again.

For me, the lack of a conference championship may be disappointing, but this feels like the last straw for me. I am hurting for my university right now and would like to see a strong message from the school on this.

I agree that this is beyond disgusting. It is very hard for me to wrap my head around this type of scenario. Why would athletes with this level of talent get involved in something like this? Weren't there any signs when we recruited these two that they had "hoodlum potential"? This is the kind of thing you might expect at some jerkwater JUCO but not at THE OHIO University! I'd certainly "throw the book" at them as an example and to send a message that these kinds of activities, or anything remotely close to them, will not be tolerated. And to think, I thought that Kyle Belack was one of our rising young stars and I really like the way he played the game. Now, my reaction is that we can't get him out of town soon enough. Ok, guys, where are those tar and feathers and those pitchforks Monroe was collection for Frank. I think I've got a use for them. ;-)

I was an RA in Martzolf House back in 1981 and had a whole suite of Brian Burke's finest on my floor. Within the first week they had destroyed and discarded (out the window) every piece of furniture in the common area. I complained to my boss, and he to the AD. There didn't appear to be any ramifications other than the fact that they had to drag in tractor tires for use as chairs for the next several months. Frank Komar was one of the players, if any of you remember that name. Those guys were animals. RAs were required to sponsor one educational workshop/event per quarter. I brought in a meditation instructor. Didn't get a real good turnout as I recall.

Some of you may be wondering why we deleted some posts. It started with a post speculating about what maybe actually happened. I realize the original poster wasn't saying this was definite, but with our policy regarding not spreading rumors of a personal, legal nature, I thought it best to delete. Then there were a few posts that quoted and commented on the original, so I had to delete those, too.

I realize some of you will disagree with us deleting the posts, but we have to make some tough calls that not all will agree with.

Are you in charge of 50 18-22 year olds? Or grown adults? Tuning down the bowl invite because three dumbasses robbed someone is stupid. I realize this makes the University and the football team look bad in some respect but it is hardly a representation of the whole University or the whole team.
