It wasn't great, it wasn't bad, but it was still a good season. Ohio beat a Power 5 team (yeah, it was Kansas, but it still counts as one), dethroned BG from its perch atop the MAC East for the last four years, played in the MACC and played in a bowl game. What conference peer wouldn't take that every year. Two tough losses to close out the year but Ohio had chances to win both games with the ball at the end.

This post is the epitome who we are as fans. Dethroning BGSU, lol. Beat a power 5 team, beat Toledo, we should be moonwalking down court street. We did good despite all of our injuries, but we lost way to many winnable games to call this season a success.
Mediocrity scares me. It's the fear of not being as good as you want to be. If you give over to that fear, it will sabotage you. As much as I can, I try to use that fear to guide me. Chris Pine

There's a lot of mediocrity being celebrated, and a lot of wonderful stuff being ignored or discouraged. Sean Penn

I find it tough for me to accept some of the lackluster offensive play from Ohio this season. But I will admit, when I watched the Bobcats lose the marathon-game against Texas St. to start the season, I did not think they would be division champs and in a bowl game.

Beats all the bitching and moaning. One could argue that it was a glass half empty or glass half full season. I'm saying half full. Others can say half empty. To each his own.

We should be afraid of celebrating a loss to Troy. How will we overcome if we keep saying, we came close. I am scared of people who don't believe in greatness. Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33, KJV)

Well I'm scared of people who tag thread after thread after thread with quotes from others instead of sharing their own thoughts. It carries far less weight and is so unoriginal.

Look, I think we all agree this was a "good" season. The problem is after 12 years some think we should have (had) ONE GREAT SEASON. Those are the ones that have come to the conclusion this staff will never get us there. Others say it is coming next year or the next year or whenever. So far, one group is right and one group is wrong. End of discussion. So we will all again "wait til next year". Sad thing is, I think we will be saying the same thing again year from now! If and when I am wrong I will be the first to admit it.

I have been sharing my thoughts for over a year, now i am introducing sources to validate my position. I don't expect to be able to change your mindstate, but maybe others who have openly demonstrated success can.

How about holding this a bit and actually recognizing some good that did happen today and this season. This was the last game in green for some fine young Bobcats and all this board has is how they were not "good enough," how theirs is a "bad team." Sad really.

Bring out the torches a bit later, maybe.

Good did happen today, we played against a good team and lost. In order to be great, we have to learn how to beat the good teams. So, this moment is pregnant with potential for the coaches and young players. They can look at this missed opportunity as a valuable experience that will help them win these games in the future. It's not trophy time, it's learning time.

There you go again...please re-read my first sentence.

I would say the season deserves a "congratulations". It just isn't where this staff, these players and most on this board want it to be.So, I say to all involved go out and do what it takes to make it happen....ONCE.

Good night.

Yeah, 5 turnovers and dropped passes, along with another personal foul penalty. Seriously, it's like re-reading the same book over and over again. That's what Ohio football is. Not once will you see the character go for greatness, he will always be a Dilbert, a not too good, not too bad, but mediocre thing that will continue to do what it does until the status quo changes.

This is exactly what is wrong with Ohio Football! Too many fans are happy or at least satisfied with a 8-6 season.
Line play was terrible.
There is a reason Windham couldn't start until his senior season- he stinks and only then because Sprague quit on the team.
The running game was non existing. Maybe because of the sorry ass line?
I for one will not be sucked into buying season tickets again and even watching the Cats until Frank retires or is fired! Fed up tired of the crap shoe.

Yes. Please wait until these fine young Bobcats finish their orange slices that bcat2 spent so much time preparing. They need to cherish their bcat2 participation ribbons. Those who say 8-6 isn't "good enough"...shame on you. How dare you deny scoreboard on KU, GW, Kent, Miami, BG, Toledo, Akron & UB? This isn't a "bad team"....they should rename Richland Ave "Frank Never Lost Less Than Four Ave." Save the torches for the unveiling ceremony. Sad really.

Good season? To anyone who believes that, what are you smoking?

Remember when the narrative was that 'we are improving?'

8-6 this year vs. 8-5 last year.

Why is it that you SFB are so opposed to admitting reality and the facts.

Definitely a good season. Hell, factually a good season. No doubt about it. Not great, but good. Winning record. Played in the MACC. A prime TV bowl slot. Etc. Got to watch a really good defense. Team seemed to play hard all the time.

People who say it wasn't a good season are smoking some bad stuff.

Having a good season is what you tell your boys right after a loss in the last game to make them feel better. A great season doesn't need reminding.

I'm tired of good. I want great.

Most classless post of the day!

Quite mature of you to say such classy things about Greg Windham.

And I suspect most fans are actually satisfied with 8-5 regular season record.

And nice of you to also attack the line.

And rail on Frank.

I doubt anyone would care if you don't buy tickets. Anyone like you isn't really a fan of Ohio football.

People who say it wasn't a good season are smoking some bad stuff.

Let me fix that for you:

LOST in the MACC.
LOST in the Bowl.
Got to watch a defense LOSE six times, an amount greater than the prior year despite several All-MAC talent.
BUT disregarding an average-like record against A WEAK SCHEDULE, we can take solace in playing hard--because that's so exceptional.

Those who enable a season such as the one which just passed, 12 years into this staff's term, are not fans of OHIO FOOTBALL, do not want us to meet the main goal of the program (which necessarily follows from a) playing football in b) the MACC).
