I'm a huge OHIO honk. To me, just because we lost one game doesn't mean we can't go undefeated. We are O H I O !!!!

(reality optional on Bobattack, as the g.f. calls it)
What do you mean? I don't get it.

I have come to the conclusion that others "not getting it" is the objective........
Well played sir....

As we reach the halfway point, most people are doing fairly well, other than the Texas State game. There is a seven way tie for the lead with 5 right between Valley Cat, OU Country, LC, OCF, ou1982, tiawan BC, and C. Money. Almost everyone else has 4 right. Trailing so far are ohio9704, andrew ruck, alan swank, and Recovering Journalist with 3 right, followed by ohio69 and fake monroe with 2 right.

Since everyone picked an Ohio win over EMU, nothing will change this week, but the following week, a Kent win would put C. Money in sole possession of first.

No one...no one...foresee'd a loss to EMU.

Does that make this a bad loss? Does that give some indication 12 years in?

Maybe add in Texas State and no win over a team that has an FBS win this year.

12 years in with not a single season of less than four lossess...and nine with over four losses.

OCF, your 13-1 and L.C. your 12-2 --you might want to re-assess.

I hate interrupt your rant with an actual fact, but Miami beat Kent State today.

Wow. You got me there.

The fact that one of those two FBS teams had to win does it.

Every position that you've taken is now correct.

You are doing it!

Indeed he is. After the Toledo game, OCF is in sole possession of first place, with 7 right, 2 wrong, missing on the Texas State and EMU games. Nine others are a game behind with 6 right, with 10 more at 5 right. At the other extreme, 3 bring up the rear with only 3 right.

Thanks for letting me know this, L.C. I had quite forgotten about my predictions. My only question is where does Monroe fall now in terms of his preseason predictions. For some reason, I can't seem to recall what our only Certified Pigskin Analyst opined in the prediction department. Please refresh my mind.

So, just because I didn't opine means no credibility to what I otherwise post?

Not sure that follows.

You, of course, savvy that here's the heart of my prediction: Mediocre, ultra-conservative coaching which can't win a MAC title. Not good enough at qb and running the qb too likely to lead to qb injury which diminishes team's ability to hit its potential.

You'd have more credibility if you put your analysis on the line and make some game-by-game predictions instead of just carping with selective data dumps, and then figuring that a flimsy argument can be bolstered by repetition. It's not that you don't have some valid points, but your points virtually never support your conclusions and you continually dismiss any data which doesn't bolster your current mantra. Remember when last year you repeated time and again how we hadn't beaten a MAC team with a winning record? Then we beat Akron and NIU, and you pivoted like a political candidate to the number of "crushing defeats" we had suffered to MAC leaders over the last three years. At the same time that you pivoted, you ignored various stats that indicated that the team was improving. You have an agenda-driven approach to posting on the football forum. And, you agenda is clear. Therefore, sane folks will not have too much trouble picking out your few valuable insights from your polemic-laden discourse.

No one was right on Texas State and EMU, but El Gato Roberto and DA called last night and are on target as far as our record at this point in the season. If their full season prognostications are correct(as well as Taiwan BC) we will all be very happy campers.

What universe are you living in?

Apparently, the one that disregards about four years filled with mostly wins over cupcakes, innumerable crashing defeats to peer teams, 11 years with no MACC, etc, etc, etc--but offsets it all win one nice win.

I have one agenda: a MACC.

I do critique specifics within that agenda, I do point out the things that we do that won't get us there (thousands of posts because so much here) and the things that we should do to get us there (again, many--most recently, throw a lot to Smith and Reid).

You let your anger cloud reasonable reality too often my friend.

Blocking my pm's and email to you was rather childish in my view. I never cut off discussion with my friends no matter how vigorous the discussion.

I recognize that friendship is not diminished by frank discussion. I recognize that friendship survives even if each side thinks the other's sports or political opinions are whacko.

Yes, at times it takes a sense of humor to shrug off the other side's so-wrong point of view. So, I have a sense of humor. You?

Bump.

Who could have predicted a loss against Texas State at HOME and then a win at Toledo on the road? Wow.

Face.

L.C., OCF, Bcat2 and friends: not exactly.

Might want to re-assess the level of the program in light of facts and achieved reality.

Post Season News; Slavin starts thread to fire Frank because he hasn't gotten us into a playoff slot in 12 years, and says this is what would happen at a real football school. He cites blowout loss to Tennessee as an example of Frank's inability to coach in big games.

Just a bit off

BTC, while not The Optimist, I'm always an optimist. Hey, I was thinking the Cubs would win the NL pennant practically every season since the mid 1950s. The moral of that story is if you're an optimist and you wait long enough, your rosy predictions may eventually come true. The World Series championship was just icing on the cake! ;-)
