Speaking of finding a way to lose, 10 minutes left with the ball on the 29 with 4th and maybe 1.5 yards to go knowing we are down 8 and must score a TD we kick a shit ass bad angle field goal which as expected we miss. Even if you make it you still have "To Score A Touchdown" later. NFW in a million years would I have tried a bad angle 46 yard field goal. If you can't get the 1.5 yards you aren't going to get a TD later anyway which they didn't.
I knew the game was over as soon as that happened. Trust your offense is gonna get the yard. Your D was stopping them enough you could get the ball back. Have some guts and go for crying out loud.

You need 2 scores to win and have one of the top FG kickers in the country, nothing wrong with kicking there.

So, you expected us to get a lot more opportunities to score in the last 10 minutes of the game?

That makes no sense to me. Had to capitalize on what was clearly a limited number of possessions we'd have in the rest of the game.

Contrast, fairly late in yesterday's game, the team with the lead did a fake punt from, as I recall, still in their own territory.

With the way our D was playing, going for it was the right move. Only needed about 1.5 yards.

4th and 4, 5 or more yards maybe think of a field goal but it was on the right hash mark which is very difficult and its 46 yards not 30 or 35. In my opinion, that was the game because who knows if you'll even get another chance inside their 30. Again, even if you make it you still have to get a touchdown and we lost to Western Michigan down 23 to 29 needed to drive for a touchdown at the end and how did that work out?

No, the way our D was playing is why you take the points. KO, then 3 and out and boom, good field position with plenty of time. Bottom line, had to have two scores to win, it was a two possession game minimum at that point. Take the points, play D.

Disagree to the end of the earth.

It's pure math. At that point, we were clearly limited in our opportunities to score since we'd get 2-3 more chances to get the ball..hoping that before we'd get it again that Troy would not score more.

All we needed was a short two yards. If a team can't get that in that situation, if a team doesn't have 1-3 good play for that situation, then it's poor and losing coaching.

In fact I know one play that would have been a good one there.

We used it once before that I've seen. I think it was two years ago. I don't think that we've seen it since by OHIO.

It's where the qb goes starts in the pistol, then moves up to the line as if giving a check-off signal to the lineman, walking down the line, parallel toit as he speaks to the linemen...but, no!, he's not--he's really in motion--as the snap goes to directly to the running back for a running play.

Except we'd used that earlier in the game (2nd quarter?) in a not-at-all strategic moment.

It's amazing that you SFB cannot see this stuff. Such banal coaching.

Of course, I can't either since I never played the game.

This poor strategic approach will NEVER CHANGE unless we do.

This is a tuff one...

Actually, we make that FG then at the end of the game after we made the next FG and then got the ball back all we need is another FG to win. So, it is a good strategy.

On the other hand, if we go for it and make it we still need to get in the end zone AND make a two pointer to win. That works too.

So, I don't think you can argue with the call. However, More than anything, this shows the mind set of the Coaching staff...take no chances and have no balls. Just do what is traditionally done.

My bigger issue was the stupid tunnel screen on the four yard line. The line of scrimmage is just too congested in that area of the field and the play is really high risk. I just thought it was a dumb play call. And, it led to their ONLY TD in the second half. The defense stopped them, I think 6 other times.

Merry Christmas!

I literally don't understand how this regime plateaus at 8 wins a season, and that's acceptable. Programs become great because they have expectations. Texas fired Mack Brown because he couldn't win more than 10 games a season. 10 GAMES!
Hmm. How is that working out for Texas so far?

They just landed the hottest commodity in college football, so I'd say pretty damn well. Oh, and have you forgotten the loaded roster they've got with all freshmen and sophomores?

Major eye roll. You're the guy that sits around and says Penn St should have been in the playoff despite the 40 point monkey stomping they took at home to Michigan.
Texas is an extremely young team who had the inevitable firing of their head coach rumors swirling. There's no excuse to lose to Kansas, but it's not a complete shock if you think about it. Kansas also took TCU to the wire and TCU is 6-6 and playing Georgia in a few days.

Also, wasn't comparing funding, stadium capacity, nor endowments. I was simply showing that it's okay for a fan base to have an expectation.

Deafening silence from the SFB about using...wasting... the trick play in the middle of the first half instead of saving it for the key moment of the game.

Key moments lacking.

It will never change.

Keep accepting mediocrity!

Texas has always been loaded with talent. And is this actually the proposition you're selling? That Ohio should have high expectations such that they fire a coach who wins in order to get way worse results for three seasons and be left with only some "wait til next year" hope for year 4 under yet another coach?

Been waiting 12 years for a MACC with this staff. Sadly, I don't see it happening in year 13 either.

What are you getting at? That's not negativity, that's the truth.

Let's concede that it takes 3-4 year to 'right the program' (see Miami, WMU).

That's 8-9 years of blah.

That's the sad truth. It isn't that way because someone is negative about this fact. It's this way because it's a fact: 12 years and no MACC.

There's a lot of that going around. I understand OU-HCOM is working on a vaccine to protect against it and wants BA volunteers for the final phase of the clinical trials. "We choose our clinical trial population very carefully," said Fred Fosdick, D.O, research team director, "and we could find no better test environment for the study of the treatment and prevention of pathological negativity than BobcatAttack."

YEAH, WHEN YOUR TEAM LOSES 3 OF ITS LAST 4 GAMES, WITH THE SOLE WIN BEING A SOUL-STIRRING YAWNER 9-3 OVER AKRON, IT IS DEFINITELY THOSE WHO POINT OUT THE MEDIOCRITY WHO ARE THE PROBLEM.

LEAVENING THAT WITH NO MACC IN 12 YEARS, AND IT'S NOT THE COACHING AND RECRUITING AT ALL.

IT'S DEFINITELY THE NAYSAYERS FOR POINTING OUT THE TRUTH.

GOOD CALL

PROBLEM: You don't have enough to eat each day and you don't have a roof over your head. You or a loved one is diagnosed with a bad illness.

SILLY INCONVENIENCE: Your team (only) beats Akron 9-3 and goes 8-6.

SILLIER YET: Thinking there is a problem and railing about constantly.
