The base drum you beat is conference championships.

But keep adding to your percussion section as needed.

Truly unimpressive thinking given that we play football in a conference.

You keep your eye off the ball now.

That way lies success.

Why don't you go back to the poll, about the most responded to one on this site, which showed about 70% of respondents think a MACC is the primary goal.

If Fleck can win a Big 10 Conference championship, that will really be something. If he does that, pencil him in as Harbaugh's successor at Michigan. Remeber, you heard it here first.

I'm sorry Monroe. I didn't mean to get you so flustered that you would create your own personal circular firing squad.

You asked of another coach that won his first conference championship after their 13th year. I gave you a correct answer - Bill Snyder.

You then start into won loss records. I bring it back to the primary goal you have been advocating - given that we play football in a conference - winning a conference championship.

And you come back with....the ramble that is above.

Would all agree that Minne winning a conference title will be a much tougher task than OHIO winning one?... [/QUOTE]
Actually, the situations are remarkably similar:

Ohio last won a National Championship (small college) in 1960. Minnesota last won a National Championship in 1960.

Ohio last won a MAC Championship in 1968. Minnesota last won a Big Ten Championship in 1967.

Both Ohio and Minnesota compete in the weaker side of their conference.

I rather suspect that Minnesota's conference record over the last 50 years is quite a bit higher than Ohio's conference record in the same time period, but I haven't looked it up.

Perhaps you can provide a link to that poll, because I don't remember any such result. I searched and wasn't able to find one. I do vaguely remember a poll where I believe the winner for the primary goal was to run a clean program and to represent the University well. I also found this poll, where 90% of voters preferred to have a generally successful winning program rather than a MAC championship surrounded by losing:

My yard is beautiful, yet my neighbor's grass is greener than mine.

ROTFL!

I now find myself coming to BA more and more for comic relief. I'm seldom able to leave the football forum without at least a chuckle or two, and this made me laugh out load. OK, maybe ROTFL is bit of a hyperbole, but it was damn funny!

Yeah, the achievement, the record along the way of the coach who won it in his 15th year is not relevant to his breakthru in year 15.

Yeah, the fact that in the 10 years before his 15th, he'd had about 9 years better than our guy is not of any relevance or insight.

You guys keep on supporting the mediocre, non-MACC history and keep on deluding yourself into thinking it will lead to a MACC.

I've been 'laughing' all along.

Not so funny on your side though, unless you enjoy no MACC...2-10 in MACC games and bowls.

I've asked that you deal with it.
Obviously you can't deal with it at all.

Giacamo, the cure to your problem of the grass being greener next door in your neighbors yard is very simple. Grind up the thousands of troll like posts that have been sent from the "left coast" to Bobcat Attack, and your yard is bound to get greener with all that sewage spread around. Just watch where you step !

I agree.

Growing grass bound to be more exciting and more likely to lead to MACC than another year of the same 12 years.

Note that Snyder was 6-4 in bowls before he won his conference title.

Thanks to all of you for taking the bait...since there's no factual or logical reason to believe that Solich will ever win a conference title.
