Basham is, apparently, going to do better than I thought.

But I think that your assertion was that you were told that he'd be a very high draft pick.
Basham and Brown are great players and deserve to play at the next level. Monroe, I know you want to win the MAC, me too, but we can't take anything from these young men in the process. QP and others will follow. Great job Basham and Brown. Hopefully they workout again at the pro day and blow the roof the mofo.

Given the loss of these big talents, what can we expect this coming year?
I remember how you harangued me in your patented Monroesque manner when I suggested about two years ago that Basham was a potential NFL draft pick. You told me that i was completely wrong and I had no idea what an NFL defense player looked like. Your analysis is always spot on, and you have tremendous credibility . . . NOT.

[Edit: I'm not saying that I haven't been wrong on a number of assertions on this board, but I try to admit quickly when I'm wrong; and I don't repeat the same statement over and over again in every thread.]
Yet others would never admit they are wrong .. even when it's proven to them.

You know what your best option is when reading posts from certain posters ...

Yes, you must forgive me as I sometimes give in and act against my better judgement. I'll try to stay on the wagon better in the future. Sounds like your average drug addict, doesn't it?

Yes, I said he'd be a first-round pick. You said he wasn't good enough to play in the NFL at all. Who was closer to the truth will soon be revealed. Some experts are saying second or third round now.

I can't recall if that's what I said, OCF. It sounds true.

That was stated before last season, at least. Basham showed a lot more last season.

As far as the fantasies about me not admitting what is true and not admitting it when I'm wrong, please give examples.

Also, let's talk about all the stuff that you SFB won't admit...starting with no MACC in 12 years and evident mediocrity. IF you need facts on the latter, just read my stuff for the past 3 or so years....which would be the best possible use of your time.

Why would anyone waste time looking for it when you'll post the same thing three times before the day is out? Everyone loves fresh copy.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report has Bashem going to 49ers with first pick of the 4th round.

I expected some favorable press on Blair Brown after his performance at the combine. Here's an example: http://tinyurl.com/h4mmc2x

Brown ran a faster 20 yard shuttle than a lot of db's and wide receivers, Basham ran a faster 20 than a few wr's and a few db's, when teams see B rown on film and realize how durible he has been, he should move into the middle rounds. They did a great job, Basham is probably a 20 rep guy, he has long arms so it is a little harder.

15 reps is beyond bad. He needs to get that to 20 at pro day. Offensive linemen were lifting twice that.

That is a nonsensical reply to what I posted, which everyone would agree is the truest statement on this board on any given day.

I don't think that there can be any doubt about Basham's speed.

But playing a lot in the NFL requires a d-lineman to bull rush at times. I don't recall seeing much of Basham bowling guys over.

+1

Well, DCF, I don't think you're "Trumpian," but Monroe reminds me of a statement by a former VP who once described the media as "nattering nabobs of negativism." If he were alive today, I think that Spiro Agnew would say he misdirected his comments and that it more accurately describes the Sage of Oxnard. Could we say that he is Agnewian?

Spiro Agnew was a great speaker, there is no doubt about it. I will always remember listening to his "I will never resign!" speech, delivered convincingly, and with power. The next morning, of course, it was in the paper that he had resigned.

An uncle of mine, who lived in Maryland, had a personal experience with Agnew when he was something like a county commissioner. It wasn't a high-level exchange or anything, but Agnew was able to change the route of county garbage trucks so they didn't drive by my uncle's house for hours every day in large numbers. He lived on a fairly narrow but scenic country road. I think Agnew re-routed them on a more major highway rather than through a rural residential area. Do I get the Swank Personal Account Award for this month? ;-)

Yeah, Spiro Agnew.

If you favor Trump, I can see why Agnew would be of appeal.

You should be ashamed, trying to make corruption into a partisan issue. It's a real, and constant problem, and you can find all too many examples of corrupt people in both parties. The most corrupt case that ever happened in a state where I resided was the case of Ray Blanton, a former governor of Tennessee when I lived there. Here's a list of the top 10 most corrupt politicians of all time, and there are people from both parties on the list:

Way to go Blair Brown. I'm actually going to have to pay attention to the NFL draft this year.

I will read it off a list when it's all done, which is more exciting than actually watching it.
