This implies it's an incoming freshman, and not a one-and-done graduate transfer, I would assume. Would that be correct?
Yes. High school recruit. Didn't want to announce until Signing Day I guess.
Finally, some solid info. Can you share what position he'll be?

Game changer...OLine loves the commit...We have 2 QB recruits...doubt it's WR...I'm going RB.

I am going to guess RB, since we already have 2 QBs in the class and this isn't a rental. We can presume the services list him as uncommitted, since there is a desire to keep quiet until NSD. We know the initial tweets from the coaches came while they were in Alabama for the bowl or immediately after returning. And we know that the day after Ellison de-committed, the coaches were in Florida visiting with recruits.

Based on that info, I'm gonna guess this guy:
http://247sports.com/player/sheldon-evans-80441

My logic:
Pretty highly regarded RB recruit, not currently committed, who has been quiet on twitter since mid-December, from Georgia, which is right between Alabama and Florida.
Nice research and logic man, certainly sounds like a candidate.

Sorry, but yeah, he is.
He may start his senior year or he may sit behind Tate Martell. While the MAC will have three QB's drafted this year. He is sitting behind someone with a 4th round grade. I wish him the best, but he is not too good for Ohio. Just like Big Ben was not too good for Miami. Too good for Ohio, lol. We have had players get drafted, Mike Mitchell has made over 20 million. Big Ben has made over 100 million, what OSU NFL QB has had more success than Big Ben. The Only QB from OSU in the NFL is Cardale Jones, unless you want to count Terrell Pryor. Try to sell your autographs on ebay.

He's got #w17ness on his profile and he re-tweets Ohio commits

It's hard to believe that the #173 WR would cause such elation shown by the offensive coaches. If so they are easily overwhelmed.

Who said anything related to Burrow and the NFL? He's a P5 caliber player and yes, he's too good for Ohio and just about every other G5 school out there as well. You can throw in all of the FCS, D-II, D-III and JUCO's too if it makes you feel any better.

Yeah, based on those tweets from the coaches and the OL, I'm leaning towards a RB at this point but I'm still not ruling out a QB.

Well, how about if I hope for Carey, AND a 4-star offensive back (QB, RB)?

My only worry is that, with this much secrecy from the committed, how certain are is the staff that it is a firm commitment? Morgan Ellison seems like he should've been one to receive high praise from OC and the OLine, he committed then decommitted. What assurances do the coaches have that this mystery dream recruit is legit?

This is not a mystery dream recruit. He's a recruit, no better or worse than any other recruit. He just decided not to announce on Twitter like everyone else.

Ted, is this because Carey is going elsewhere? Or, could it be Carey might still commit to Ohio, but the mystery player is simply someone else?

He is not too good for anybody, this is your mediocre thinking. He is not starting at Ohio State. He is a 4 star recruit who play again the lies of Nelsonville, Logan, etc, with 2 D1 caliber WR's, a D1 starting cornerback. Hopefully he beats out Martell, who 43-0 and played 5 of the top 25 schools in the country. As I stated the MAC has 3 QB's who will probably get drafted and three underclassmen being scouted. Kind of reminds me of Tariq Owens, former basketball commit. Btw, we have plenty of power 5 caliber players. Papi White a former Oklahoma State commit, Zervos, Poling, Pruehs, Farkas and Hagan are receiving NFL looks.

So why are we not winning championships? You continually say we have all this super talent, so why are we not winning? Funny, every kid who commits to OHIO you claim will be dominate, everyone who doesn't isn't very good, yet we still haven't won. Why?

Ted, let me ask you this much if I can. Did you get the impression, or do you know, if this kid is someone who is really going to provide the "wow factor" when it's announced, or is this simply the case of the coaches stirring up too much excitement with their overzealous tweets?

We have not had a good QB and our offensive coordinator has not been innovative enough. Mediocre fans do not help us get recruits. A double minded man is unstable in all ways (James). You cannot wash the staff's cars and tell them how much you believe them and then turn around and got to their kid and say they are too good for the school. You can't offer to lace up his shoes and beg for autographs. The kid made a decision to go elsewhere, you just have to wish him well. He has done nothing to show that he is too good for Ohio, hopefully he does great things there, but if he end up being a clipboard QB, he will have people like you to blame. You and 5 or 6 people that may be gassing him up. Phillip Ely was the second best QB in the nation, went to Alabama and transferred to Toledo. Robert Rhodes was a top 5 wide receiver who transferred from Baylor to BUGS. They had way more groupies than Burrow.

You really need to see someone about getting your meds adjusted. No one here had anything to do with him attending OSU. Do people support his decision to make his own decision with the guidance of his family, sure. But sad thing is you are the one who maintains an almost unhealthy fixation on the young man. But hey, if that excites you!

And you are all hung up on ratings, ratings do not mean squat at the end of the day.
