Did you root for Jason Grunkemeyer at Miami?
I have no idea who he is.
Half my hair just fell out and the other half turned gray.
FWIW--I dismissed that as a silly gotcha question. I am a Bobcat from the 1980s who knew when Danny Nee took off his coat, the game was getting serious; Billy Hahn's full-court press never worked, and if you asked any Athens resident who the best player on the basketball team was, they would kindly tell you it was Steve Bruening.
My interest in basketball waned during the later Hunter years and Shea years. It never fully returned. There was too much family stuff going on then. The Grobe and Solich eras were a refreshing change from the "Relieve Cleve" years and brought me back to being a football fan.
As for Grunkemeyer, I looked him up. By looking at his statistics, it doesn't seem like he played five years, won a conference Player of the Year award, had three season-ending injuries, and never bitched that they didn't modify the offense from one that favors a dual-threat QB. I also don't think he will end up with any other MAC team. I did kinda root for Sean Jackson, who transferred to Princeton in the late 80s. I woulda transferred to an Ivy League school if they would've taken me.
