Amazed at the lack of creativity by the MAC. Oh well decent home slate.

I'm really curious what the logarithm is that gives Ohio the same three crossover games as last season.

It appears every team is getting the same opponents as last year, with locations flipped. I'm guessing the league just decided to do that before rotating opponents.

Isn't that what they have been doing? Whoever we crossover with is a home and home before different crossovers enter the picture.

No, this is the first time in recent history that the MAC has done this. I don't think it worked out very well to do that for a long time because of having an odd number of teams in the league.

2015 West Division foes were: vs. WMU, vs. Ball State, at NIU (didn't play UMass in division)
2014 West Division foes were: at CMU, at WMU, vs. NIU (didn't play UMass in division)
2013 West Division foes were: vs. CMU, at EMU
2012 West Division foes were: vs. EMU, at Ball State

Speaking of schedule, I just had a thought: Win a MACC.

Best home schedule in a looooooong time. P5 opponent, Fiami plus Toledo and CMU.

I'd bet Toledo and CMU are #MACtion games, which will stink for any out-of-towners. Still, I'll take it!

Probably some combination of two of the three between Toledo, CMU and Miami are. Kent State shouldn't be one of those games, but you never know.

Miami game has record crowd potential with both teams expected to be good going into into it. A crowd in Peden for TV that day would look awesome.

Every game we host is close to a record crowd. At anytime we can have 23-25K

As long as there isn't a sale at J Crew that day Biff and Buffy will be there!

I really hope the team will redeem themselves against the two Michigan schools next year. That Central game especially still lingers for me. No matter who the coach is, the Chippewas have had Frank's number in his Ohio career. It would be great not to end those games with crushing interceptions while driving to win the game too.

Scheduling 6-7 years in advance is another example of the insanity that is this game.

Boo Jackson's fumble at the two still makes me cringe.

This will be one of those seasons where we could win anywhere from five to 12 games. We should be at least 3-1 OOC, and 4-0 is a real possibility. We should beat Kent and Buffalo, but the rest of the MAC schedule could be tough.

And that is what makes cheering for Ohio frustrating. This past season was a great example. Played Tennessee tough and had a chance to pull ahead in the 4th quarter. Beat Toledo at Toledo. Were driving to win the MACC but had a late turnover. But also lost head scratchers. Seems to have the talent to usually beat anyone on the schedule but drops games that were very winnable. Always holding out hope for the year the put it all together!

Virginia Tech is a program that in the late 80's and early 90's like Ohio was struggling to get over that 8 win hump, made it to the Sugar Bowl in 1995 to go on to a remarkable run. Beamer needed about a decade before he really started winning. On a smaller scale, is Ohio getting in position to make that leap to 11-3 or 12-2 type seasons and go on a run for a few years? A run that will make everyone forget the MACC frustrations. Its possible if the offense steps up to what its capable of.

I am excited for this football season. I will be coming up from Lawrence for the Kansas game with about 4 Ohio grads, and 6 KU grads. We should all be excited for a good game!

Also, we need to find a tailgate group to link up with. ;)

Beamer's teams never sniffed 8 wins his first six years....won 6 twice.

But in his 7th year he went 9-3 and went bowling.

For the next 23 years VT went to a bowl....won 10+ games 13 times (including 8 straight years)

He won three Big East titles (2 of those were co-champs)

He won four ACC titles

He played in 6 ACC titles games (3-3)

I like your thought of possibly comparing Ohio to VT....but it's just factually incorrect.

Frank is NOWHERE near the path of Beamer....nor is Ohio to VT (even on a MAC level)

Frank has had 1 10+ win season in 12 years.

0-4 in MAC title games

0 league titles.

I don't see him 12+ years in going on a Beamer-type run.

Begrudgingly I have to agree with you. 12 years is a pretty good sample size of what we should expect for the coming seasons under virtually the same coaching staff. Hopefully I'm wrong as I usually am and Ohio does go a run like Beamer but I'm sure not expecting it.

But if Coach Solich can win even one MACC before he retires, that works for me and I'll be happy.
