Shame they won't have it on Saturday night. I bet there will be over 22.000 in the stands. They should have made Hampton the 2:00 game and the Kansas game 7:00 and debuted the new scoreboard on that night. With the alcohol sales, P5 opponent (yes, I realize it's Kansas), and a new scoreboard ready for a night game I can imagine the atmosphere would have been somewhat electric.

Wishful thinking

I was about to say something about how the Kansas game is a 2pm because I thought it was determined by TV (and old man in me - real TV - not ESPN3).

This is the kind of game that, if TV isn't driving the kickoff time, should be starting later that 2pm, I agree. 3:30 or 4:00pm?

You guys realize that only a handful of folks will ever realize that this is not the correct scoreboard????

That's kind of an insult to Arkley and the Messenger, don't you think? If the only place that information could be found was here, I'd agree with you, but with it being featured in the Messenger, I'd think that more than a handful of people read it.
Not a slap to Arkley at all, you are assuming that everyone in attendance is a reader of the Athens Messenger or a reader of Bobcat Attack? Yeah, don't think so. Again, the average fan, the freshman that comes to the game, or any alum that comes in from out of town will have no clue regarding the scoreboard until someone tells them.
I would tend to agree with this. If I were guessing on percentages, I'd say 60-70% of those in attendance will have no clue one way or another about the scoreboard.

I hope they are hard at work coding in our traditional "GO GO GO GO GO" graphic.

I think the weather will play the largest role in how the first game is perceived.

Is this the same Messenger that requires a subscription to view online? Cause I can't read it.

I'll say it again - $6.75/month to subscribe to the Mess online. Well worth the investment.

Seems steep to me. Almost as much as the NY Times. I'll stick to the Athens News and The Post.

Agreed - fifty bucks to basically cover you through all of football and the majority of basketball season.

I'd like the ability to subscribe to just the Sports section. The Athletic is doing this and someday might take away this part of the newspaper business (like classified ads and real estate sections before it).

Seriously.... I love yelling go go go go when that thing appears. The unintentional comedy is high..... Just sayin....
