I do remember one game at EMU . . . back in the late 1980s or maybe early '90s . . . when EMU had a very good team and they had what looked like a packed stadium for a televised game. Can't really remember any details at this point.

I'm anticipating this will be a great game. Definitely two of the top 3 MAC teams (Toledo, EMU, OHIO is my top 3) facing off. I think our running attack will be able to chip away at their defense, I think Dorian Brown will be the guy.

Roback will be hard to handle but if our defense forces them to be one dimensional by shutting down the run game that will go a long way.

As usual I think we'll have the special teams advantage.

Roback is strong and suprisingly mobile for a big guy in my opinion -- great observation Sparrow. I think they will test us in space on the wide side of the field. With success that would open up the inside running game and make us vulnerable to mid range/deep passing routes in the middle of the field.

I think we'll need all three running backs vs. the Eagles because we're going to try to pound away and they'll be physical right back.

Agree that our kickers are a great asset. Coverage has been pretty good thus far.

This game frightens me. Conference road game in a sterile environment versus a physical well coached team. Not to mention the grey turf.
I have this feeling success hinges on using a passing game that takes a couple of deep shots early to open the running lanes could give the Cats some success. Roback is one of the top 4 QB's we will see this season.

They beat Rutgers because the Knights' QB had a rating of 12.7 (13/37, 198 yds, 2INTs). EMU didn't pressure him much (one sack; only two hurries) and had only three passes defended, so he's probably just not very good. If we get more out of our QBs than that, we should take them.

Roback was only so-so vs Rutgers (19/36, 260 yds, 1 TD) but got lots of protection (one sack, one hurry). He had a better game at home vs Charlotte the week before, but Charlotte's a train wreck this year. Our pass rush needs to step up again this week.

They've only had 240 total rushing yds the first two games, so maybe we can concentrate more on pass defense. And we should be able to run on them: Charlotte hit them for 166 and they've given up 294 in two games.

Last year we might've overlooked them a bit because we were coming off a big win vs BG. That won't happen this year. GO BOBCATS!!!

That same QB had a QB rating of 54.4 against Washington the week before that. Just because he wasn't pressured and the defense only touched the ball three times doesn't mean they didn't play good defense. Perhaps they just had good coverage and he had no where to throw?

Rutgers is bad. Really, bad. But I'm not too quick too discount what EMU did.

I cannot stand when they call out the fact that our HC, OC, and DC are the only team with these three positions.

We should be excited about 12 years of mediocrity? When do we actually get a change or are we playing nice and sticking with Frank until he retires? I respect the man, I was there when they hired him and saw some of the exciting things he did for our program, but we should be ready to take the next step. What are we waiting for?

Going into OT w/o an offensive TD. Let's get one in extra time.

Exciting finish. Rourke made some big time throws on those OT drives.

Masterful job of coaching here. Credit is due.

I felt this would be a fist fight. It was. We avenged last year with this win.

This would have been a tough one to lose. Well done boys!

Rourke is who I thought he was. He's clutch. I'm very impressed with the improvement in the defense this week. That is more what I was expecting at the beginning of the year. I was also very impressed with EMU. Their defense was all that I expected. They will win a lot of games this year, and only Toledo is probably a threat to put up big numbers on them. Outstanding win.

The gray field made it an odd game to watch. It seemed to be in black and white, but with colorized uniforms.

Someone on the MAC board made a good comment. Anyone ever see that movie "Pleasantville" with Toby Maguire and Reese Witherspoon? That's what an EMU game looks like.

I have followed these board for a long time and I am in no way Monroe. I just don't think that is something that is worth being excited about. I am happy they pulled out the win and have followed them through the highs and lows of being a fan. Heck I am even a Cincinnati Sports fan, so I get it and will never just cheer for our team when they are winning.

So while I understand the eye roll of dealing with a negative leaning post, I am way better than Monroe and am slightly offended you went there with my first post.

When deciding to post on BA, here is something to keep in mind: It helps to thicken one's skin. Unless a poster is endlessly caustic, you can take most jabs with less even than the proverbial grain of salt.

Welcome to BA and keep on postin'!!

Weird to say about a win over EMU but that seemed like a solid win.

Anyone else think we should have gone for it on 4th and 3 in the final minutes of regulation? I know that would have been a gutsy call, but I did not feel good about the FG attempt. After we missed the FG, it was easy to second guess, but I honestly thought we should go for it before that miss.
