Is it me or did no one ask about our own quarterback situation? not a huge topic as I believe Nathan is solidly our starter now, but whether he was going to ensure Maxwell got some time this weekend seems pretty relevant after he got zero snaps in the first conference game.
The game was too tight to put Maxwell in for even a series at EMU. It was a one-possession game throughout, and even though we didn't score a lot we moved the ball well. Drives stalled because twice because receivers fumbled downfield. And the one thing Roarke hasn't done is panic. He didn't just pitch the ball downfield while under pressure and looked in control most of the game. I expect Maxwell to gets some PT this week, and not just in garbage time. Given the length of the EMU game and the 90-degree heat, I expect a lot of guys who were standing on the sidelines most of the day will see action this week.
I know all of this, I'm just saying I thought it was more than worth asking about.

If Minuteman QB Andrew Ford can't go it will be Weirton Madonna's (WV) Ross Comis. Very small school success story. Interestingly enough U Mass has a high profile QB commit for next season in Massillon Jackson's Jaret Palotta.

Is the streaming option on the UMass website actually free? I clicked the "sign up" button and it loaded a page with payment options: http://www.umassathletics.com/watch/purchase.aspx#register

Also they have the game date listed as 9/9/2017. Annoying that I pay for the sports package on Xfinity and don't get Eleven sports.

0-5 but all of their loses have been tight games against good competition. I'm hopeful we can find a way to win without elevating my heartrate too much.

I thought someone said earlier that espn3 had this game as well, but I don't see it on the schedule. With NESN, would it be safe to assume your average Buffalo Wild Wings will have the game?

I don't know of any injury that would make me think Ohio will lose this game. To me the worst would be if Poling can't go, and Grillot is still out.

What I'm hoping for, and what I get may be two different things, but I'm hoping Ohio can pull away early, and the backups get a lot of time.

It looks to me like "audio only" is free but the full video feed costs $6.95. I went ahead and paid for a "one day pass" so I won't have to worry at game time

I called Spectrum because Eleven Sports is on my channel guide but not part of my package. Apparently it's not a part of any of the packages offered in my area. Kind of like having an item on the shelf at a retail store but it's not for sale.

EDIT: I have sight and sound for free through the UMass site. You'll have to turn off any ad blockers. So all is gravy.

Video is working for me. Didn't pay for it. Didn't even setup an account or log into their site. I just did the extension download. Once you have the extension download, you have to scroll down below the "Live Today" bar below the score. There's two "live now" options, the first is "audio only". click on the 2nd option for video

Watching through Edge browser. Think they use Flash which is blocked by Chrome. Would love to stream it from Chrome to my TV, but oh well.

Just click on the first post that showed UMassAllAccess. Click on that , skip the first audio one and click the second one and it started playing on my ipad.

Ohio wins by MACtion, not something you often see. Defense played well in Q3, but definitely looked winded in the fourth quarter.

Felt like our defense was on the field for the entire game. Some of my thoughts:

1. Rourke's ability to make cuts to avoid defenders is uncanny. Ran for 100+ today. He fits our system perfectly and is a stud in the redzone with his ability to run the option, scramble, and play action. We have been so much better in the redzone this year.

2. What was with the bad snap that led to the safety? Pruehs wasn't in for that play, I believe it was Joe Anderson in for that play. Pruehs played after that, so if it was an injury at least it wasn't serious. Also, is Rourke really 6'2"? Seems like 5'10" to me.

3. Seriously, this was a real test for our defense and I'm not sure if we passed or failed. They were on the field for nearly the entire second half, totally gassed, down a couple key players. Schematically I thought we had issues because they always seemed to have guys wide open. We saw a pretty good adjustment at halftime. UMass was 6-for-8 on 4th downs... This game would have been a bit different if we were playing against a team with more wins because they definitely would have kicked more often rather than going for it.

4. Brendan Cope had a nice day. 7 receptions 126 yds and a TD in addition to successfully fielding both of UMass' onside kicks.

5. Julian Ross. Kid can flat out run. Awesome kick return. I wonder if he can catch the ball? If Papi's out for much longer, wouldn't mind utilizing Ross like we did Papi

6. AJ dinged up? After his massive run I thought think he checked back in, saw him stretching and running on the sidelines.

7. Only two sacks for the defense, none in the first half. We did a nice job pressuring Ford in the second half though, he was under duress for a good chunk of time leading to some bad throws.

8. UMass has some talent on offense. Really glad we avoided falling into this trap game. 4-1 feels good, right where we want to be right now. Onto CMU!
