As C. Money correctly pointed out, it can not be questioned that he also broke other rules, such as promoting products, and making political posts on a regular and ongoing basis. I'm sure that both probably factored into the decision, and I know that a political thread he had going in Siberia was deleted entirely at the same time he disappeared.
I'm really, really late to this discussion. The reason I'm so late is that I've been a longtime forum-lurker and never made an account. Eventually I stopped reading the forums, probably two years ago.
The reason I left and the reason that I'm here today is Monroe. I come here for fun, if I'm not having fun, I don't show up. So I stopped showing up.
I thought I'd check in the forums randomly today and I was amazingly pleasantly surprised. Thoughtful discussion, no personal attacks, no demands for Frank's head on a platter. The tone of posts have changed overwhelmingly for the better.
Sure, sometimes I'm frustrated with a predictable offense and deflating losses, but do I think Frank and or staff should be fired? Nope, not right now, I think they're doing a pretty good job, according to my 20 years of following Bobcat football.
Do I think that people are wrong for wanting to replace him? Yeah, but it's a legit viewpoint. The thing is, who do you get? Who would do a better job. Solich is dependable, dedicated, and consistent. I'm not going to trade that for a flash in the pan coach that is gone the first chance they get.
Do I want a championship, you bet. Do I want more wins, absolutely. But back to Monroe. If I'm out of line here I can edit or remove this post.
He is free to express his opinion in the public square. This is not the public square. The forum rules are quite clear. In one of his final comments he calls everyone that disagrees with him "SFB Solich supporters". Calling people "S*** For Brains" is 100% not acceptable. Just like asking someone if they're delusional is unacceptable. That's an intimidation tactic, not a debate tactic for civil discussion.
That said, there are lots of people on here that have constructive criticism of the 'Cats, and I greatly respect their opinions. They're almost always right. Things can always be better. But I see the Solich Era as a golden age of Ohio football.
The thing is, Monroe stopped being a fan. He rejoiced in losses, and bemoaned wins. He was rooting against the Bobcats to prove his point. He cared more about his platform than seeing the Bobcats succeed.
I'm bumping this thread to relate to everyone that the site has improved. Current threads are decent, respectable and well reasoned, with positive and constructive discussion. Opposing viewpoints are debated, not shouted out. Negativity is down, civility is up. Therefore I am a new user as of today. I am here because Monroe is not.
