Ohio's win eliminated Miami since the worst Ohio can finish is 5-3, and the best Miami can finish is 5-3, and Ohio has the tiebreaker. In the event that Akron, Ohio, and Miami all finish 5-3, Miami loses the tiebreaker to both Ohio and Akron.

If Ohio beats Akron, then win the East. If Akron wins, there are three possibilities:
1. Akron beats Kent to finish 6-2: Akron wins (Ohio-Buffalo doesn't matter)
2. Akron loses to Kent, Ohio loses to Buffalo. Both finish 5-3: Akron wins
4. Akron loses to Kent to finish 5-3, Ohio beats Buffalo to be 6-2: Ohio wins

... So in the above scenario, we’d have a 3-way tie at 5-3, and each team would be 1-1 vs the other two.
...

No. Akron would be 2-0, Ohio would be 1-1, and Miami would be 0-2. In any tie at 5-3, whether 2 way, or 3 way, Akron wins.
As others have noted, Miami beat Akron 24-14 on Tuesday night. Rare miss LC

Akron lost to Miami so all 3 teams would be 1-1, right?

Right, and I think as it said before, the three-way tie at 5-3 would go to Akron based on division record eliminating Miami and then Akron having a head-to-head over Ohio. So Miami cannot win the division. If Ohio beats Akron, Ohio is MAC East champ. If Akron wins, it is MAC East champ as long as it beats Kent or Ohio loses to Buffalo.

Oops, yes. I shouldn't be posting before I've had coffee. LOL

TeamRanking calls it this way:
East: Ohio 70.7%, Akron 29.3%, Miami eliminated
West: Toledo 73%, NIU 14.0%, WMU 9.5%, CMU 3.5%

. . .

NIU: Win out + Toledo lose to WMU on the day after Thanksgiving
CMU: Win out + Toledo lose to WMU on the day after Thanksgiving
WMU: Win out + CMU lose to NIU on the day after Thanksgiving
Of these three scenarios, I would like to see the most unlikely: CMU v. OHIO in the MACC.

Revenge in Motor City would be sweet.

OK, L.C., give us the odds of each one of these happening. ;-)

The odds of Ohio playing CMU? Should be 70.7% X 3.5% = 2.5% chance Ohio plays CMU in Detroit.

So what you're saying is we have better odds of making a NY6 bowl than Miami has of winning its division?

Miami sucks.

I would not totally discount the possibility of BG beating UT. It's a rivalry game, and it's at "The Doyt."

I tell you right now; Ohio plays CMU and it will lose. I don’t know how and I don’t know why, but CMU has OUr number, just like we have Miami’s, and hopefully Akron’s. CMU owns us right now, unfortunately.
