No. I want focused, physical, domination, whether every thing is on the line or nothing is.

I want to serve notice to the rest of the MAC (and college football, for that matter) that you do NOT want to play us, because we WILL beat the hell out of you.
If we have it wrapped up next week, Buffalo is meaningless. I'd play the starters the first quarter or so and turn it over to the bench. Don't risk getting a starter hurt in a meaningless game just to make a statement. If we can still beat the hell out of Buffalo, so be it. But the starters should be saved for Detroit.
Frank doesn't agree with you. He has recently said that you play to win every game. He was basically asked about that at a recent press conference. Check it out for yourself.
I know you play to win, but you can also play to win without overly risking your starters in a meaningless game. If Roarke or somebody else important were to get hurt while we have a big second half lead in Buffalo, imagine the reaction on this board. If we beat Akron tonight, there'll be more at stake in Detroit on Dec 2 than in Buffalo on Nov 24. We'd have a real shot to get a 49-year-old monkey off our back.

You can play to win with some 2nd string players getting reps.

Interesting discussion regarding the Buffalo game should Ohio win tonight (and Ohio will!).

I'm in the camp that the Buffalo game would be very, very important and you play ALL of your starters. Why? A variety of reasons:

1) KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM!! You don't want to head into the MACC game on a
losing streak. Never ever take your foot off the gas. Momentum once
lost is a difficult thing to regain.
2) A win over Buffalo coupled with a win over Akron, would get Ohio to a 10
win regular season for the first time in its history.
3) A win garners the team more national attention and keeps Ohio's faint
hopes alive of Top 25 votes or appearing in a marquee bowl.
4) A win keeps Ohio tied for the best regular season record for all state of
Ohio FBS college football teams. Take that Ohio State!! (granted, this
one's sort of tongue-in-cheek but what the heck)

Yes, a player can get hurt in the Buffalo game. But guess what? They get hurt too without playing in a game. They get hurt in practice, sometimes just as bad. Ask Deshaun Watson. Don't need to be in a game to get hurt.

I understand the concept of resting players; I just think there's more to be gained by playing Buffalo to win with all of your starters.

I'm predicting a win over Akron and starters being pulled in the 3rd quarter in Buffalo. It's just the smart thing to do.

Actually, second time . . . 10-0 in 1960.

Not to detract from what was an excellent post, but we were 10-0 in 1960 and 10-1 in 1968 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_Bobcats_football#All-t... ). It would be the first 10-win season in my lifetime however

Westgate has the spread for the game as OHIO favored by 13 points. Feels a bit excessive, but they also say that OHIO is 8-2 against the spread this year.

Spread just dropped this morning to 11. Perhaps Woodson will play after all.

If you're 2 TDs better than Buffalo ... go blow them out then rest your starters late in the game.

Play the game to win. Period.

Assuming that Buffalo beats Ball State, they will need a win over Ohio to become bowl eligible. It will be a battle. Right now, though, I just want to beat the zippers.

I know that's what you say, and maybe this year that's the philosophy. However, I'm pretty confident this has not always been Frank's mindset, that he plays to win every game. I'm still salty about our opening game against Louisville in Tyler's senior season. There wasn't a gameplan to win that game and Frank never seemed interested in such. I've felt that way in a few of our non-conference games over the past.

Now, this year, go for that big number. Hold little to nothing back. This has a chance to be a year for the ages if we hit 10, 11, or, believe it or not, 12 wins.

No, it's always been Frank's philosophy. I've heard him say it on many occasions -- both publicly and privately. The Louisville game was a very poor game plan, coupled with a record setting day by QB Bridgewater. He could do no wrong and OHIO could do no right. Sometimes the best game plans just don't work out. Ask Urban Meyer about that. Specifically, ask him his game plan for last year against Clemson, or this year against Iowa. According to your view, he didn't put together a game plan to win either of those games. That's actually a tautology if you think about it. After the fact, the game plan didn't produce a win and was horrible. You can't conclude from that that the intention was not to put together a game plan that would win.

Do these refs know what holding is? Every play could have had a flag on Akron for holding.

Ok. So we need to make a few adjustments. Their WRs are running read routes. Mostly stops and quick routes. We have to bring another DB in the game and tell our DEs to contain Cato.
