Mike Gundy interviewing with Tennessee. Does T. Boone Pickens have more money than the Haslams?

And Herm Edwards interviewing with Arizona State.

Interesting tidbit there on Herm Edwards. I wonder if he figures he’ll be a casualty in the next round of lay-offs ESPN is rumored to be conducting in the near future. He hasn’t coached for awhile.

I would be surprised that Herm Edwards get the job.

ASU fans are irate with the idea of Edwards coming in for an interview. The AD there was Herm's agent 10 years ago when Edwards was coaching the Chiefs, and apparently they frequently golf together and are very close friends. Stinks of nepotism, really.

I can't believe some of the guys out there (Miles, Kiffin, Frost) and their first choice is....Herm Edwards? I love the guy, but wouldn't want him as my HC.

Also, I think Gundy is taking the interview with UT so he can get a pay hike. He'll have a Jerry McGuire moment with Pickins

Lane Kiffin is the anti-Dave Wannstedt. Kiffin is young, hip, smooth and connected. His wife seems to attract a great deal of attention as well. Wannstedt is likable as one coach puts it; "an old school guy's guy from western Pennsylvania." What do they have in common? They just can't seem to win in college or the NFL. Nevertheless, their names come up for high profile jobs which is baffling for many fans!

Gundy decides to stay at Okie State. I guess oil money is better than truck stop money.

Mississippi State hires Penn State's OC Joe Moorhead.

How many guys do you know of that can turn FAU around in one season and take them to a conf. championship?

I'll wait......

I kinda hope they win it now, so I can say Kiffin did something in one year Frank hasn't done in 13

Great hire by Mississippi State in getting Joe Moorhead. Guy won at Fordham and led PSU's offense to success.

Kiffin is going to get his shot. Fairly confident in that statement.

Not like the guy is a terrible X's and O's coach at all. And with his personality right now, it is a real California/Florida vibe he gives off. I think he is a coach that plays chess while everyone else plays checkers calling the game.

I gripe about Solich. In light of Herm Edwards getting that job, I vow never to go after Solich again. There are worse options out there, and Arizona State successfully bagged the moon in this department.

Herm Edwards is an interesting choice for Arizona State. Don't underestimate him, I think that Edwards might actually help Arizona State recruit better and thus put together a solid contender in the PAC-12. I certainly think he will be able to attract a solid coaching staff. As for Lane Kiffin, he is the PT Barnum of college football and a real brilliant offensive coordinator to boot. It is just hard to imagine what major college program would put up with his attention seeking pot stirring. If Jimbo Fisher leaves Florida State, and Florida State hires Willie Taggart away from Oregon, I wouldn't be surprised if Oregon took a chance on Kiffin. A lot of ifs, but I think Kiffin would be a good fit there.

David Cutcliffe, Brian Brohm, Dave Doeren, and Kevin Sumlin all turn down Tennessee. This has been the greatest $h!+show of a coaching search ever. Brady Hoke's going to wind up the permanent coach just by process of elimination.

TOS to Florida State.
TOS to Tennessee for AD.
And Hugh Freeze is DEFINITELY not in the running for the Tennessee job.

Phil Fulmer put on his best Frank Underwood impression to get that AD job over at Tennessee. I mean honestly after they shamed Schiano for something he had nothing to do with, it’s refreshing to see this.

Not his first rodeo...he back-stabbed Johnny Majors in order to get his head coaching gig there.

This is god awful. It really sounded like Philip Fulmer wanted his revenge on Currie for firing him 10 years ago. I have no respect for Tennessee Athletics from a fan perspective or a sports business perspective. I hope this program loses for the next 20 years for how they just performed this maneuver and this entire week. They have smeared good people all in the name of Jon Gruden. To me, this is utterly pathetic.

Story goes that when Currie was at Tennessee in 2008, he was the one that did the firing of Phillip Fulmer on the AD's behalf then. Trying to link article now
