Thanks for sharing a nice piece.
The Dispatch is worthy of plenty of contempt, but having worked in newspapers, I’m inclined to cut them slack here. The harsh truth is that newspapers today run on threadbare staffs and have to do what sells. I’d love to see the Plain Dealer devote more time to the MAC, but we’re frankly lucky to have Elton Alexander’s lazy half eye on it. Just look at comments and pageviews. He did a recap of the game last night, and it has ZERO comments as of right now.
http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/11... Meanwhile, they’ve done no less than 10 stories about O$U’s blowout loss at Iowa. I hate it, but I’m in the small minority.
The Dispatch ignores the MAC because it has finite resources and/or not enough readers give a damn about it. They’re not doing this out of a conspiracy. They cover and write what generates clicks. If you want more coverage in media, click on it, share it, comment on it and otherwise support it. A good place to start is by subscribing to the Messenger, where Jason Arkley is providing big-time coverage on his own and on a shoestring.
