Scoring Offense: Ohio #14 (38.9/game), UAB #57 (29.6/game)
Passing Defense: Ohio #112 (261.8/game), UAB #22 (188.0/game)
Rushing Defense: Ohio #10 (111.4/game), UAB #69 (169.8/game)
Scoring Defense: Ohio #58 (25.8/game), UAB #47 (24.3/game)

Hello UAB Band Dad and congratulations on your team’s success this year! Major kudos to all involved.

Actually, if you read through most of the posts on this website and given OUr recent luck in the postseason, I think you’ll find a lot of Bobcatttack posters feel UAB winning this game is a slam dunk.

Me, I’m a Cleveland Browns fan, so you know how I feel at this point. Why I even bother to follow football is a mystery to me.

Actually, it was really strange at the tailgate yesterday. We got win #8, remained undefeated at home, and were standing there speculating about which bowl we'd go to.

We were all looking around trying to figure out where the music from the Twilight Zone was coming from. This is the second bowl in team history, and the other one was the Hawaii Bowl in 2005, Roddy White's senior year.

It would really be nice to go to a bowl somewhere in the continental United States sometime...

Yeah, I read your board and saw some of the venting. I think we have a pretty good chance, actually, but I don't want to swagger in here all cocky and be "that guy".

Bill Clark should be National Coach of the Year, hands down. Most of the preseason publications picked us as #130 of 130, mostly because they had no idea what was going on. Las Vegas put the over/under on our wins at 2.5. CBS had us at #51 last time I looked. Do you know another coach who raised his team's position in the polls by 80 positions?

He looked at SMU coming back from the Death Penalty for what not to do. UAB got two years to hit reset and field a team, and the recruits were time stopped re eligibility without using a redshirt. Clark recruited good players who were quality people, whether they were Jucos, transfer players, players rehabbing injury, or players needing time to get their academics in order. He built a team that was heavy to older guys by the time they got back on the field. There are a couple of recruiting classes of true freshmen, but this first team is not full of 18 and 19 year olds. His plan worked perfectly.

It has really been a special year for us. There are not many fanbases who have had to endure the crap that the UAB fans have. Long history there, I won't bore you with the politics.
Definitely excited to see this program beginning to make noise again. The biggest thing about UAB moving forward is that it's alumni are on a mission to spite Tuscaloosa and have some backing in the community. Not saying they will go head on with Tuscaloosa, but it is more than enough to begin to develop a cult. That said, the next step for their program will be to get a new stadium.....

A positive for Ohio is that UAB would much rather run the ball than pass.

Good for Ohio on the other side of the ball too. UAB has been below average at stopping the run.

You missed one. UAB is 7th in the country in 3rd down efficiency on offense.

Here's all you need to know about the Blazers. UAB lost....LOST....to Ball State.....by 20!!!!! Yes, the same Ball State that went winless in the MAC! Wow.This bowl matchup is fitting for Ohio, it's exactly the type of poor opponent Ohio would schedule in the non-conference, so why not in a bowl? Yawn...

Bahamas is only 200 dollars round trip out of Orlando or Miami if you can make the drive to there. For Bobcats in Florida its an easy trip.

Obviously we are the more established program in our 9th bowl since 2006 and they are the cinderella story. In 2006 it was Ohio who was the cinderella playing So. Miss down in Mobile. I didn't we would compete and we didn't but that was our situation at that time.

Oh I'm sure I missed more than one. Like turnover margin. UAB is +4 on the season, Ohio is -4.

Nice destination, terrible bowl, but Ohio will easily win. The actual “crowd” at this bowl game makes EMU games look like sellouts. No one goes, it’s a horrible atmosphere. But you can’t beat the weather.

Just like Ohio would EASILY beat Akron and go to the MAC title game and beat Toledo and/or Western right?

When they played Ball State, it was their first FBS level game in over a year, almost two years. They didn't even know what kind of team they had at that point. UAB has beaten 4 teams that are bowl eligible. How many has Ohio beat? ONE. Exactly ONE.

Go ahead and write them off just like you do everyone else. I'm expecting a good game. Ohio is coming in on a low note with two straight losses and no MAC title appearance. They are riding high in a season everyone expected them to lose. This isn't going to be easy.

I will cheer for the Bobcats until I take my last breath and want them to win every game with all of my heart. But they have also shown me that they can lose to anyone who lines up 11 players across the line of scrimmage.

Sure the Cats can win this game, but after the last two weeks I sure as heck am not going to look down on another program. Won't shock me in the least if the Blazers leave Nassau with the win.

Wouldn't shock me either. I'm not understanding OhioBobcat's need to throw out wild guesses and present them as undisputed fact. Is there something in it for doing that? What's the motivation? Where's the humility for being 100 percent WRONG over the past couple of weeks?

Some bowls are better than others, but all bowls are good when you understand that no bowl means you had a sucky year..

It’s like someone was going to give me a Make Christmas Great Again hat. They’re all great just some are greater than others.

And for anyone who does make it to the game, rest assured there will be plenty of cheap shuttle bus service.

I wrote in an earlier post that no matter what, there would be unhappy Bobcat fans. I genuinely think this is the best bowl outcome possible. What were the other options? Idaho? Florida? Alabama? Detroit?

This is a different venue. For those who can afford to go, it's a nice treat. It's probably the top destination for the players (not so much the administration -- see costs -- but that's a topic for another time).

For those who can't attend, sit back and watch on ESPN in a Hawaiian shirt over top of your Bobcat t-shirt. Enjoy it. Don't overanalyze it.

As far as an opponent goes. UAB should be tough. Don't overlook any bowl team. We've not exactly had a stellar bowl record against other conferences.

Regardless of the opponent and I essentially know nothing of UAB this program needs a win. As good as we felt after Toledo is equally as bad after the last two messes we just witnessed. This may sound crazy but I almost view this bowl game as a must win for my mental state. Recruiting, Spring Ball will have so much more optimism for me if they win this bowl game.
I'm convinced after Akron and Buffalo that 90 percent of college football is mental focus and those two weekday games on the road were brutal to keep 18 to 22 year old kids focused on the task at hand. Empty stadiums, driving winds, holiday travel. I'm not making excuses just watching the national landscape and all the upsets.
A week at the beach and a win in front of a national audience sure would brighten the Holidays,
