Got the FB renewal email today and looks like they're doing away with the paper tickets. The options are mobile & print at home, so I guess this was eventually coming. As someone that saves my tickets forever, it's kind of a bummer, but not the end of the world I suppose. And I think the prices went up a bit too.

Welp, that's going to hurt ticket sales. Guarantee there's a good fraction of our fans that walk before doing this.

You can do things like this if you're Ohio State. You can't when you're Ohio. Too easy for fans to find other things to do.

Last year the Jets talked about eliminating "tickets" completely for Season Ticket Holders.

I don't know if they implemented it,but Season Ticket Holders would get what looked like a credit card for each seat.
You go to the game, they scan the card.

The question a lot of people had was,if you wanted to give or sell your tickets to a particular game to someone, did that person have to have the card(s).

There din't seem to be a mechanism for the ticket holder to print out the tickets.

You could do it through the NFL Ticket Exchange, but that has costs.

One explanation for this, was to cut down on scalping.

Additionally, the Bobcat Family Pack has been renamed the Bobcat Value Pack, and the tickets are now general admission for anywhere in the east (student) side of Peden.

I guess these disenfranchised fans also use travel agents and paper airline tickets?

I want my tickets.... And get off my lawn !

I am already imagining myself in the back yard going "Office Space" on my printer while my family waits for us to head to Peden.... I already have several wood bats to use....

Look around next time you're at a game (and not just in the Tower Club). The amount of older and/or economically disadvantaged fans that we have is very high. There are many that won't want to mess with this crap.

Also, why make the family pack GA on the entire student side? You can now pay peanuts and sit in Phillips Club seats. That seems like a decision that might backfire.

There is an option for "Print at Home" tickets which are pdfs and make it easy to sell/give tickets to someone else through StubHub or email. I've done both in the past without issue.

The new "mobile" ticket option also said it would email pdfs so you might be able to do the same with that option.

I was thinking this very thing. Somehow our AD is not in touch with the total fan base. Now, if they gave an option of sending them a card-type ticket that they could take to every game and get scanned that would help a lot for this type of fan. Back a decade or so ago the standard ticket was a card. It worked very well. I don't know why they stopped it and went back to the paper ticket. When they had the card system, you also had the option of printing out tickets to give to someone who was attending instead of you at particular game, so you wouldn't have to lend your card to another person for a one-shot use.

And it’s your belief that these economically disadvantaged fans are purchasing season tickets.

I book my own domestic flights - just returned from back-to-back flights to CA and GA. But I confess to using a veteran, skilled travel agent to book my international trips. She charges only $40 and within minutes - which would take me hours - sends me several options.

We did this once, did not last too long. Although this is a much different day and age, maybe this will take hold this time?

I liked the cards. But that's not what this sounds like. You're going to have to print off your own tickets or have them on your phone. I'm fine with it...but can think of some fans that probably won't be.

Yes, I've talked to some family pack ticket holders, and they are probably not going to want to go through the hassle of going online and printing out tickets. Though internet access is better in Glouster than it used to be, not every home has DSL and/or a working computer. Some just go to the Glouster Public Library to use the computers there. Unless this new system includes "ticket cards" I don't think the AD is being very culturally sensitive.

Thanks for the heads-up. It will be helpful to me in determining if I will keep my current number of season tickets (10) and, if so, the best logistics of how to get tickets to people using them.

The price increase of said tickets may also help that decision, Joe. At least I won't be keeping my 10, probably going down to 2/4. I used to like to have extras even when most went unused.. Puts extra $$ in coffers, gets you an extra parking pass, helps the attendance counts... Oh well. I just hope those in charge are thinking everything through.

The card thing was tried out a little over 10 years ago, I sorta doubt anyone in the decision making processes even knows it was done before. I could be wrong, but we have a lot of turnover at OU, especially in the ticket office. But regardless, I don't get the impression they're doing that either.

Maybe a local print shop, or the bookstore, could team up with the athletic department, to print tickets for people that would like that service, for a small charge, of course

Ben I've got a 2003-2004 basketball pass and a 2004 and 2005 football pass. I just don't know how to upload the picture.

A buddy of mine had 14 tickets...usually went to family/friends. With the price increase, he told me he's going down to 3 this year. If that trend continues, Peden is gonna get mighty empty.

There is a reason for that:
