The hatred for OSU baffles me. They aren't rivals. I know they wanted the Ohio name years back, but I just feel like hating them makes Ohio U fans seem like little siblings. We waste too much time hating Ohio State. I know that's an unpopular opinion. I love my Bobcats and will always root for them, but Ohio State is what it is. They don't spend time worrying about us, so I won't worry about them.
My disdain for O$U centers around three things. First, their sports program has always been more about raising money and on-field results than academics. They don't care if the kids actually get an education; how they perform on the field is all that matters. (I can see Herm Edwards instilling the same attitude at ASU.) Second, a large portion of their fan base isn't happy with winning -- they only care about winning big. You can't just beat the opponent, you have to destroy them. That's a piss poor attitude. Third, their attitude that just because we're bigger, we're better. So many of them are so frigging condescending toward all the other schools in the state, it's sickening.

See, I feel like you could probably point at most colleges and say they put more of an emphasis on athletics than education. Look at the facilities around most campuses. We can tell who makes the money. That's why Saul Phillips and Frank Solich are our highest paid employees.

As far as winning big. If I'm Ohio State and I don't beat a MAC school by 3 scores, you better believe I'm disappointed. There's no way a MAC school should compete with a program like tOSU, at least in football. Other sports I think the gap is closing.

I just feel like when people constantly hate Ohio State because they're Ohio State, it makes us feel like we are jealous.

And it's ridiculous to say that Ohio State doesn't put money into academics. Has anyone seen the rest of their campus. I'd bet the investment there dwarfs their athletic infrastructure. Dispatch just had an article about them constructing a $50M high energy research lab that will be plugged into the research loop with places like Fermi and CERN. They own the largest share of one of the world's largest observatories. And they just made the school tuition-free for any in-state student who's family income is less than 60K. There's a lot (not everything but a lot) going on up there from which Ohio could take a page.

I’ll be impressed if Herm has come to terms with (or found out) the fact that he’s coaching for the Sun Devil.

I'm not sure it is fair to say OSU doesn't place emphasis on education, when they have better graduation rates than OU: https://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/ohio_st...

I'm not a fan of OSU, because many of their fans are obnoxious and they feel entitled. The "THE" positioning and the overuse of "Ohio" support that.

I also feel that they get a disproportionate amount of state support (not just financial) than smaller schools (I have no proof, I just feel that way, like when you see rows of state police at OSU games and only a handful -- if any -- at OU games).

I'm not OSU fan, but I also want to be fair in the criticism of them.

I do think it is fair to say that,at least when it comes to "money sports",OSU places more emphasis on making sure players stay on the field/court then pursuing a degree.

OSU has,as have a lot of P5 schools been very good at creating majors to keep players eligible.

Well, we will probably know by Wednesday what the findings of this report say -- and that could invite a whole new discussion about OSU...

Hate osu, because they're the evil empire, the best sports stories are the underdog stories, and virtually everyone is an underdog compared to osu,

or,

Don't hate osu, because we're all still from Ohio,

or,

Hate osu, because they get all the breaks, suck up all the resources, etc.,

or,

Don't hate osu, because most programs would trade places with them in a heart beat,

or,

Hate osu, because it's fun and creates an emotional connection and sports are better when they're fun and emotional,

or,

Don't hate osu, because hatred is petty and the world has enough pettiness already.

I think it's fair to say OSU is not alone in this regard and I think it's fair to say that not only P5 schools are doing it.

...or, hate osu, because, if you don't, you will soon be experiencing warm and fuzzy feelings about Miami University (of Ohio) too!

From everything that's been said since the trustees were told of the results of the investigation,I don't think a firing is likely.

Personally,I think he gets a reprimand, counseling and maybe a suspension.

I like the one article that referred to a suspension as possibly "time served".

Most of the sports commentators out here, even the ones that are RU "homies" ,don't seem to think there's any chance OSU fires him.

"Time served" would be a very bad look PR wise. I'm guessing 3-game suspension...or a firing.

I hope for the latter.

Voluntary "Death Penalty." After all, Ohio State Football is only going to continue to break the hearts of diehard fans, who insist on winning a National Championship every year. In place of football, the Stadium at Ohio State will be used for tractor pulls and motocross.

Hmmmm.....is this why OSU has had more academic All-American's and Rhodes Scholars from their football program than we have???

Just curious what he would be fired for. Zach Smith said Gene Smith was aware of the 2015 allegations. If that is true, I don't see how Meyer could be in trouble. His obligation was to inform Gene Smith. In this PC world we live in I could see Gene Smith being in trouble for not firing an employee for unproven allegations unrelated to his job.

Yeah but there are a lot of Ohio State fans on this site. I didn’t realize just how many. I’m starting to get the picture.
