I think this is the worst Bobcat win I have ever watched. Does anyone think there is any worse?

Who here figured that DL Knock would be the guy to change the direction of the game?
He has won a couple games with his special teams play

That kick return was crucial. Secondary is atrocious but lots of young guys are getting PT. Hagan back will help as I believe Nelson moves to FS. The early bye week is CLUTCH. We will miss Papi.

Defense won the game. They were able to hold Howard under 700 yards, and got turnovers now and then.

Good think Ohio got a tuneup. I think they needed it.

A win is a win, and that's the way it will be recorded. Now the team can forget all those press clippings, and they have a week off to get their mistakes corrected before the Virginia game.

On the positive side, I though White looked great, and thought Irons ran very well. Also, I agree with others that Maxwell had a great game. I also thought the defensive line looked solid, at least, after they made some adjustments to contain Newton. On the negative side, the secondary was a disappointment, as was the offensive line.

Howard is better than most people gives them credit for. But they really are one-dimensional on offense. Newton is their only running game, so if you contain him, you've pretty much shut them down.

Most people expected us to run all over them. They gave up 221 yds/game rushing last year, but were able to do much better today because Maxwell wasn't a threat to run outside the Howard 10. They were able to key on AJ and Maleek in most running situations. I expected the O line to take control of the game in the 4th quarter, but it really didn't happen.

I thought Howard caught a break on the opening kickoff. It looked like the returner carried the ball outside the end zone then walked it back in. Should've been a safety.

Maxwell did much better than I expected today. His passes were sharp and he made really good decisions.

There's a lot to work on before the UVA game. We might need a +4 TO margin to have a shot at them. They say a team improves the most between the first and second games. Hope that's the case.

Really disappointing to watch. I guess I should temper my expectations after this game. Maybe common sense should tell me losing pretty much the defensive front 7 is going to be a problem.

They damn near beat us with an offensive line that had the physic of "extras" for a generic football commercial and 3 skill position players - Newton, Ezzard and Anthony.

Oh well.....another case of playing down in our Home opener. I hope we do better at VA.
