This guy is a bonecrusher. Hopefully he commits. Could be a dynamic duo with Christopher.

Fries and Molnar are both redshirt juniors as well.
Love Molnar but his knee injuries scare me. He could've been the next great LB but injuries hampered that

So… it’s January 9th. Navarro is not in the portal. We have not heard about his appeal for a 6th year.

Tells me two things, he’s either not confident about it. (I’m not either, but Kim makes me wonder if the possibility exists due to some funny math with game time) or he’s coming back if it goes in his favor.

Anyone have any feelings or thoughts? Seems unfair they can’t make a decision while in this window, but ultimately it could work out for us. (Unless they also grant him the ability to ignore the portal window - but by then most QB needy teams will have done their work in the portal)

I was at about 0% chance, now I’m closer to about 30% return.

2021 - FIVE appearances at UCF. Did not register a rush or attempt in one of those games, was on st. Across four other games, he had 7 rushes and 2 pass attempt.
2022 - 2 games. Injury.
2023 - 6 appearances. Registered stats in only 4.
2024 - Beast
2025 - Beast

He has a case, I think. I’m never quite sure of the rules, but playing special teams at UCF burned his redshirt. 2023, at OU burned a potential (?) redshirt on gimmick or decoy plays.

Yeah, unless he has a last minute transfer like Retzlaff to Tulane last year, it feels like the only outcomes at this point are being done with college ball or coming back to OU.

I wouldn’t read too much into this as he’d be a grad transfer and would not need the portal.

Navarro is actually seeking a 7th year, not a 6th. You're forgetting his 2020 season at UCF. While he did not play in 2020 and it can't be counted against him (Covid season), it does log into his time in college making this appeal for a 7th season, not a 6th. And of course he has a case. Any guy who applies has a case, and for that matter, they're handing out extra years nowadays like Halloween candy. I won't be surprised if he gets a 7th year. But I would be surprised to see him come back to Ohio with it and not use it to get money from another school. He's more than hit his ceiling at Ohio having won a MAC Championship, earning All-Conference honors, winning bowl games, etc. He'd be foolish to squander an extra year (if he gets it) playing in the MAC yet again.

This analysis doesn't seem to be factoring in the distinct possibility that most QB situations may be settled by the time a potential waiver is granted. OU may well be the best situation out there, seeing as how any other situations would involve schools who either couldn't land or didn't want portal QBs.

Rosa and Taylor will be a good 1-2 punch. We have two D-1 transfer tight ends. We have Bowman added to Dorwart and Pugh and possibly Rodarte coming back. We are in desperate need of linemen but look like we're working on it.

Defensively we have Nemo, Walker, Fries, Molnar, Christopher, Bannister, Ackerman, Reagans back. This is looking like another solid offseason.

Rosa is interesting. When he put his Duke offer on X, a lot of UConn fans were like (paraphrasing), "Anywhere but Duke. We love you, but you'd be dead to us if you went to Duke." Not something you see every day.

Fun Fact: He went to the same high school as Aaron Hernandez.

Happy to have him, he's had an interesting career. I know one thing, if Manny Diaz wanted him - he's got talent. If he turned down playing with Darian Mensah, to come here... lets go man. I'm on board.

He's got good size at 5'10" 210. Haven't done too much research, but looks like his best years came as a freshman, before Cam Edwards arrived. He also returned kicks.

2022 - 636 yards / 11 td - started, led team in rushing (they had FOUR RB's w/ at least 375 yards)
2023 - 550 yards / 3 td - Back up to Cam Edwards
2024 - 72 yards / 1 td - Cam Edwards, Durrell Robinson started taking the bulk of the carries, he redshirted, bio doesn't mention injury (They had 3 guys with 650+ yards rushing)
2025 - 155 yards / 2 td - Cam Edwards breakout 1,200 yards
2026 - Welcome HOUme.

Barry Dillon Jr - FCS corner from Incarnate Word just committed as well.

Apparently, he allowed the 2nd lowest catch rate and the 7th lowest passer rating when targeted in the FCS. And gave up ZERO touchdowns.

Two years remaining.

Barring any shocking late departures, this portal window is stacking up very well for us. Would love some o-line guys and another QB for the room/confirmation Parker isn’t done.

If Navarro is granted an additional year what program that is a step up from OHIO realistically would pursue him?

The program knows they would only have him for a year and would have to be a program that really wants to emphasize the running game because he didn't show consistent accuracy when tossing it. His greatest assets are his speed/quickness, toughness and winning history not his arm. Would a currently successful team take him as a reliable back-up?

78 yards rushing and a TD also.

Pretty similar stat line as Parker. Veza had a better completion percentage, and didn’t have the luxury of a Big 10 caliber WR / TE / RB threat to work off. ;)

This kid could really be your starter next season.
