We've been following this young man for some time. As a Brush alum, I'm excited we've offered him. He was averaging about 30 pts per game before he was sidelined recently with a leg injury (from what little I've seen, the injury does not appear to be serious). His coach is former OH Mr. Basketball Chet Mason (believe he was an All MAC player at Miami). Numerous offers, including Miami.

There's another player at Brush I hope we're keeping an eye on: 6'8" soph Tyler Williams, who was having a monster year before he suffered a broken bone in his hand 2 weeks ago. He's a rebounding machine. Has potential to be a big time player.

Finally, Brush High School is actually located in Lyndhurst and also serves South Euclid.

Is Cleve Brush the same as Lyndhurst Brush?

Yes it is. Named after Charles F. Brush, who if he did not invent the arc light, perfected it and made it practical. Hence our nickname, the Arcs.

OK, this may be a dumb question, but is he related to the legendary bluesman Elmore James?

I used to hang out in South Euclid quite a bit back in the day.

In the early part of the 20th Century there was an automobile manufactured somewhere in the Cleveland area called the Brush. Did he have any connection with that company? Asking for BTC's friend.

I believe the Brush Motor Car Company was manufactured in Michigan. No direct relation to the Brush of Cleveland.

You are correct. I was getting Brush Motor Car Company mixed up with the Baker Motor Vehicle Company tClehat operated at about the same time. Baker made a lot of electrical vehicles using a Tom Edison-designed battery. Edison was also a customer of the Baker Company.

Goes without saying that I'm really pleased! First team all Ohio D-1 as a junior. Can't wait to see him in Athens. Now let's make it a 2-fer, and bring in Tyler Williams as well.

Thanks for the video, FearLeon... Yeah, I wanted to chime in earlier about his level of physical development. Looks like a man among boys out there. I wonder if he can use that strength like Walt did. Time will tell.
First team Division 1 All-OHIO which is impressive...
Keep it going, Coach Boals!

Welcome to Ohio, Elmore.

Go Bobcats!!!

I believe we will have 4/5 scholarships for next year ( James is one and hopefully Frazier is 2), so great start.

If we get Frazier this is truly going to be Christmas in July in Bobcat land.

TBC.....the vid you posted is sick. Man among boys is right. I can't believe he's only going into his senior year. P5 schools are going to try and make a play no doubt, but he seems completely locked in on elevating Ohio.

This dude is physically ready NOW and sounds more mature than his years! Imagine if Sears uses that extra year and we get 3 years of James and Sears together! Boals hitting homeruns all over and getting the player of a MIAMI grad!

Elmore is the first HS 2022 commitment across the MAC unless you want to lump in AJ Clayton, in which case Elmore would be the second. I think that says something about the state of the program and how quickly Boals and the staff have turned this thing around.
