Whenever grades are posted from Fall Semester next year. So I would guess mid-December.

Right. Semester exams end Friday Dec 14, meaning grades will be due around the 17-18th. Although the 2 week benefit of the quarter system is gone, Groce still could combine a couple single games with perhaps a 3 game holiday tourney for some blending opportunities before the conference starts.

This team will be ridiculously stacked next year. Probably the deepest team we've ever had at Ohio. The biggest problem is going to be getting everyone the minutes they deserve.

Stacked is right!  I can think of a few guys that are going to lose minutes if Green is a true big that can play down low.

According to Arkley its official:  "And now it's official. Kadeem Green will join Ohio basketball in time for the start of spring quarter. Can start practice right away."

"
Green/Ohio have a waiver request in with NCAA. If approved, Green eligible to play at end of Fall Semester (December) "

Might one of the bigs decide to transfer, opening up another scholarship?

There will be some tough decision-making with the roster. It would be a lot easier to divvy up minutes if he were eligible at the beginning of the season (then you could consider redshirting Goard, like we did with Stephen King) or if he had to sit out the whole year, making him eligible after Baltic and Keely graduate.

If we are going to go 11 deep...40 minutes of hell?

I see this helping our depth inside, not as something leading to "40 minutes of hell."

I forget where, but I remember reading an article with several coaches saying nobody does "40 minutes of hell" anymore because the recruits won't come to your school.  They don't want to do it.

VCU does it. At least according to Shaka Smart they do.

What an advantage this gives us!  We can recruit smart players and leave the unthinkers to others.  Dontcha love the Stevie Taylor approach?!  Get us more of that.

Well, for me 40 minutes of hell is a team the presses most of the game.  Not sure VCU does that, do they?

More depth inside at the 4 and 5 spots with Keely, Baltic, Smith, Goard and Green. Plus Offutt/Hall at the three and Kellogg/Johnson at the 2  and Cooper/Taylor at the point.  10/11 means the Bobcats can dial up the defensive prsssure and not worry about fouls as much because of the strong bench.  Adding the extra bigs will help us ifwe schedule bigger teams. We are an undersized guard oriented team.  Having five bodies inside atleast gives us the ability the play a much more difficult scgedule.

We've seen a problem in the 'Cats getting markedly outrebounded in games this year.  (Yes, I'm doing this off memory.  Don't have time to pull the stats, espec in the games that we've lost.)  If we can solve that problem, we can have a fine year next season, better than this one.)

The scary part is Charis Levert could be the type of player that deserves to be in the regular rotation as a freshman.  He is a great recruit for us.  If both Goard & Green are part of the equation and Levert proves worthy of some solid PT, that means 12 deep.  If it comes to that I said good luck Coach Groce (or perhaps Coach fill-in-the-blank).

Ohio actually as a whole got 50.2 percent of all available rebounds, so that's just above average. The trouble has been defensive rebounding. Ohio is 268th, compared to 43rd on the offensive glass. The first time against Toledo and the Robert Morris game come to mind as games where the Bobcats gave up a ton of offensive rebounds. 20 to the Rockets, I believe, including NINE to Pearson.

Andrew, I am not certain that Lavert is physically ready to play collegiate basketball.  I've seen him play (and plan to see him in the regional semis here in cbus Thursday nite).  Plays hard and a decent shooter.  But I kid you not:  he's 6'3" and  weighs 140 lbs. tops.  His arms are about as big as a pencil.  He needs to do 2 things this offseason and neither involves picking up a basketball.  1: Eat, and then eat some more, and 2:  Begin a comprehensive weight training program.

Caris has the potential to be a very good player at OHIO. I think a redshirt would best serve him next  year for all the reasons you mentioned.  Not a whole lot of minutes at the guard position if all come back next year!

Not quite the same, but people said Kevin Durant was too weak and skinny to make it, too.

I think a redshirt makes sense purely because of our depth at guard.

Its getting to the point where our bench players are good enough they could start for any other MAC team outside of Akron/Kent. We might be able to sustain a NCAA level team even after DJ Cooper moves on with a fully loaded cupboard. D.J. is going to forever be known as that one player that got it rolling at Ohio like Matt Santangelo at Gonzaga a decade ago.

7'1'' wingspan!  Put that next to Jon Smith and they can defend a lot of ground!

Saw Kadeem Green at cside last night...  He looked like he was 6-10 260 standing next to Reggie.

^That would be awesome to add a guy that size to the lineup that we already have.
