According to a tweet from barry hayes, @hoopstarscanada, that was retweeted by former bobcat reggie rankin, the 6'8" green is to decide "today" between valpo and ohio.  he visited both last week.  below is a link to story about his decision to leave missouri earlier this year...

Brings up the question of is this the scholarship we get back for academics or is someone already let us know they are leaving.  Always nice to get an athletic big transfer from a major.  Too bad he would sit next year and be a junior starting in 2013-2014 with two to play.

St. Bonaventure's board has a Kyryl Natyazhko-like thread dedicated to Green. The speculation and pipe-dreaming is very familiar.

Thought that article said he could play at start of Spring semester.  (Man, that is just weird.  Spring semester...)

Wow, this came out of nowhere.  This dude was no slouch for a team that is currently #3 in the nation.  I sure wouldn't complain about this.

Perhaps he plans to pay his own way during the transfer year?  Or perhaps we are getting a scholarship back...I really hope it isn't someone leaving after the year, I'd really like to see the identical roster back.

Two days later and still no word. I wonder what the hold up is?

According to Jason Arkley's blog, it's looking good for Ohio.

Kadeem Green, according to Scout, was a three star recruit out of high school.  He received offers from Missouri, George Mason, George Washington and Virginia Commonwealth.

Here is an interesting article concerning Green's decision to take a redshirt during his first year at Mizzou.

http://www.columbiamissourian.com/stories/2011/01/06/kadeem-greens-wait-likely-last-until-missouri-mens-basketball-teams-next-season/

Rivals also listed him as a 3 star recruit.  But they list many more schools which offered him.  Many more.

So if I underrstand correctly he took a redshirt last year mostly rehabbing from injury, played sparingly this year and left the team before they started their Winter Quarter (semester?) and would be eligible as a redshirt Sophomore for us starting January 2013.  So he would have essentially 2 1/2 years of eligibility as a Bobcat.  Is this correct?

That is what Arkley said and it seems to add up. Should have hiim for MAC play next season.

And if we were still going to be in quarters instead of semesters we would have him right after Thanksgiving similar to Bubba and Armon right?

Got to see Kadeem a few times out here in Columbia... reminded me a lot of Devaughn Washington. Athletic 6'8 with an unbelievable wingspan.

Could be a real beast in the MAC.

Oh Canada! Very excited about this addition.  But how can a transfer be eligible for Winter semester when he won't be able to enroll at Ohio until Spring Quarter.  Are they counting Spring Quarter and Fall Semester as the full year?  With both Armon and Bubba, them enrolling at Ohio in early January made it possible.

This may sound crazy, but...I kind of wish he would have to sit out all next season but get to practice with the team, then join us Fall 2013.  We'll have the exact same roster coming back next season and hopefully be hitting a really good stride come January and I would hate for anything to upset that balance.  We already play 10 deep so it will be tough to get everyone a fair share of playing time.  And we'll need someone to replace Baltic & Keely in fall 2013 and beyond.

andrew, i understand your concern, but you can never have too many players.  we've been fortunate this year with lack of major injuries, academic  problems or suspensions.  no guarantee that will continue next year...

I guess that's the only way it would work. I'm sure it's a rare situation to go from a school that is on semesters to one that is on quarters but is changing to semesters. Even if this is true, he couldn't be eligible until Fall semster is over next year, which is Dec. 15.

Very good news . . . I only wish he was a 7 footer instead of only 6-8!

If he was a 7 footer he would either be...

A) still playing at Missouri

or

B) so awful we probably wouldn't want him anyway.

Is it know when he'd be available - Dec 15th, or sometime in January?

Could be a great get here.  We need an additional big guy with some bulk who can really play in the post.

Whenever grades are posted from Fall Semester next year. So I would guess mid-December.
