Figured a thread tracking transfer prospects we've been linked to might be useful...

...

Jon Rothstein lists us as recruiting Iowa transfer Joe Toussaint
https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/15095520306202132...

He averaged 17 minutes for Iowa this year off the bench.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

He is originally from the Bronx. Here is his HS recruiting profile... Some good offers.

According to Rothstein, we have reached out to Illinois transfer Andre Curbelo.

Add East Carolina's Tristen Newton, Sacred Heart's Aaron Clarke, and Pittsburgh's Femi Odukale to the list. All are point guards.

He'd be my favorite off the list. Seems like he can do a little of everything. Odukale almost sounds like a solid but less gifted Sears replacement, more of an undersized two guard who can really score but is not much of a passer. Clarke sounds like a guy who would still be a nice addition with less competition for his services. Downside on him is, he's a one-year player only.

Is it a safe assumption that, once the college season officially ends tonight, we'll start seeing transfers sign with programs? Or is there a specific date range when players are able to sign with new teams from the portal?

Whenever they want.

I'd imagine there are still a fair amount of coaching changes to play out the next week which could still muddy the portal waters quite a bit more.

Curbelo is a very good basketball player and I believe that Coach Boals would be able to get way more out of him than Illinois. He could fully develop here.

We can take a 1-year rental because I believe that Estis or Sheldon will truly be ready to run this team after their first year. Both just need to get stronger and be in the system (although after seeing Sheldon a few times this year, I'm not too sure he isn't ready now).

Agreed. I don't bet on Sheldon or Estis getting much court time this coming year but I'll be ecstatic if one of our froshmen next year breaks out. Watching film on all of them, oh boy each of them are extremely talented. And I know Frazier didn't really do much this year but he could be very good as well. Fingers crossed we keep up the tradition of developing very good point guards.

Add Saquan Singleton of New Mexico to the list. Listed as a point guard but gets more rebounds than anything. Can't shoot a three or a free throw whatsoever. Odd player. Almost looks like a shooting guard, except he can't shoot. Looks like Boals offered him at Stony Brook. Hopefully he's a strong perimeter defender, which is needed.

Ohio listed as one of the schools after Courtney Ramey from Texas. I like seeing Ohio listed next to these other programs. Boals is not sitting back in the portal. He's playing with the big boys.

I would love to know how many schollies we actually have. If this is correct and I know we don't know about Lundo, Frazier or Estis, then we are all full:
PG: Sheldon, Estis
SG: EJ4, Miles B, Lundo
SF: Roderick, A.J. Brown, Adelodun
PF: Clayton, Hadaway
C: DW3, Ezuma

I am guessing Lundo is going to be gone officially and I have not heard of Estis and Frazier getting schollies. If that is the case then Boals has three to use. If one of Estis or Frazier gets one then we have two. I love a guard rotation with EJ4, Miles, Roderick and AJ Brown. I think EJ4 could play point. Then you have Clayton and DW 3 with Ezuma as a backup. I think adding a veteran point guard and a 3-and-D 6-6, 6-7 Ali Ali type would make this team even better than a team with Sears and BVP on it. Of course, I won't say "NO" to BVP returning!

I'm not totally sure if Frazier is on scholarship. I'm wondering if Boals going after all PG's means there's a large chance BVP returns.
