Ohio has offered a scholarship to 2014 shooting guard prospect Zach MCormick of Cincinnati Turpin High School. The 6-1, 165-pounder also has offers from EKU, Kent St., Miami (OH), NKU, Toledo and Winthrop.

This site has an evaluation on McCormick.
http://tripledoubleprospects.com/2011/08/26/zach-mccormick/
They also have him ranked as the #2 SG prospect in the 2014 class in Ohio.

Evaluating talent is obviously a science as when I just watched the video of Zack and then read the scouts update--I didn't witness anything of what he was writing.  All I witness was a kid shooting layup-upon-layup against horrible perimeter defense and with no defensive presence/help side defense in the paint.  I wouldn't expect him to score at all in a MAC game vs. say Akron team based on that video.  Clearly I'm wrong as his status is much different, but it seems like most of the videos posted of players is against matador type defense.

I said that same thing about Kretzer at Waverly. Too slow. Too big to play defense or any kind of game...and the dude TORCHED us this year and had an amazing season.

I like Kretzer....and he is gonna be a thorn for a few more years.

CG. It is hard to look at those clips. I go to quite a few tourneys every year and see a ton of games. NOne of those games look like the clips and highlights. It is awful hard to see what is there unless you go and do the homework. Guys like Brian Snow at Scout or Pegram at Peegs.com do some pretty good and really honest analysis.  THe big guns like Dave Telep can be trusted but it is honestly a full time job to get tot tourneys and see kids so it is best to find a coupel of good sources you like to read and ones that are fairly objective with no dog in the fight to promote and then stick to their columns for info.  .

McCormick is visiting Ball State on Tuesday.

I still hope he's a priority of ours. We're gonna need a floor spacing shooter after Nick and Travis graduate.

According to his Twitter it is down to us, Tenn, Butler and Fiami.  An X factor appears to be that he and Justin Johnson appear to be interested in going to school together and we don't appear to be recruiting Justin.  Fiami is recruiting Justin.

Justin Johnson tweeted that we offered him a couple weeks ago. I would love to get the pair of them.

Actually, a twitter war appears to have broken out between Ohio and Fiami students telling the pair where to sign.

My reaction was more "Really?  There are still Miami fans who follow the program closely enough to know who is being recruited?"

Seriously, I don't know how they could possibly pick Miami over us.  Love the idea of bringing in teammates.

Plus, Athens is roughly in the same geographical region as Inez, KY.
