Looks like we're going after the former Warrior: https://twitter.com/MagicShammm

Sounds like he'd be eligible to play immediately: http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/20140415_UH_p...

With two senior pg's on roster, this would be an odd add.  Another senior PG?  Maybe says something about one of our current pg's?

It probably would just mean that Willis would play mostly shooting guard rather than point guard.

The comments with this article paint a less than ideal picture of his play/attitude.  Hopefully (should we get him) it is just fans being critical of a player that is moving on.

Another G, S or P, especially with Shamburger's experience, can't hurt. A one year plus for both he and OHIO. This could be a great pick up.

when you've got 5 spots to fill late picking up a player with 4yrs experience is a no brainer. Even if he's a bust its only a 1yr commitment. Good find.

I think this would be a good move. Bean isn't a point guard. Stevie is not a point guard that can go 25+ minutes. It actually sounds like this guy could come in and start immediately. #SaulBall

I agree - this year, a player like this is worth it for Saul to fill a roster with quality players.

Agreed on Bean - since mid-season last year, I've liked him as the first guard off the bench, and he can really shoot it when he's hot.

On the other hand, I don't understand the logic on Stevie and the 25+ mins?  Other than the injury this year, what makes you say that?

Until Stevie penetrates more and improves his assist-to-turnover ratio...I just never looked at him as a #1 point guard.

36 Games
========

87 Assists
47 Turnovers

Granted he was hurt the last 10 games or so...but these numbers have to improve if you are the team's #1 PG.

Isn't a 2 to 1 assist to TO ratio usually deemed good (not great)?  If not, what is a deemed to be a really good number?   I'd like to see the assist number be closer to 4-5 per game, I know that.

DJ's number's were usually around 2 to one if my memory is good today.

Stevie's asst to turnover ratio last year was 1.9.

By comparison, DJ Cooper's A/T ratio over 4 years was 2.1. Alex Abreu's was 1.8, Aaron Craft's was 2.1. Allen Iverson's at Gtown was 1.12, Michael Carter-Willians was 2.2. Current players Juice Brown at Toledo is 1.9, Austin Richie at WMU is 1.6.

I think Stevie is doing just fine at PG.

Had Stevie qualified for the league leaders, and kept that pace (1.85 Ratio) he would have finished at #3 in the MAC between Chris Fowler (1.87) and Jarod Oldham (1.84).  Juice led the league at 2.2.  That ratio would have been 6th in 2012-2013 and 5th in 2011-2012 in the MAC.  For reference DJ finished at 2.20, 2.14 , 2.0, and 2.0 in his 4 years.

OU..I'd love to see the number closer to 4...that would be fantastic.

I'm hoping we pass on this.  I like Stevie at PG, spelled by Bean at times, who will also get minutes at SG...and Simmons learning in practice during his transfer and ready to take over for Steve/Bean.

Depth is never a bad thing. It is up to the coach to work with it and try to keep everybody happy. If I remember, we were really thin last year when Stevie got injured. One injury to Stevie or Bean next year, and you may wish we had some more depth.

I have no problem with competition for playing time.
