Apparently was offered while Phillips was at NDSU and the offer is being extended here based on some quick google searching. I am glad to start hearing news.

Good find.

No offers but the visit to Michigan suggest some interest beyond the typical list everyone you got a letter from.. Article above says he is in prep school now. I like that. A year of extra development likely means more "game ready" from day 1. And while we have a lot of uncertainty on our roster we do absolutely know there is open wing PT.

I am not optimistic most of Christian's recruits will stay with Ohio. Nothing against our coaches/school/recruits that is just usually how these changes play out.

Hopefully we can hold our recruits. Even if we do keep them all, Phillips still has two ships to fill. While it is late in the year... It isn't THAT late. Plenty of quality guys still on the board, but Phillips and co need to get going quick.

Here's an article with a bit more info about the Michigan interest...

 http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2014/04/michiga..

The school that Ryan attended looks to have had success with sending lots of kids to school on D1 schollies...

I don't know but, from this article it states that Michigan is just covering their butts if someone decides to leave for the NBA draft. While that is not a problem for the program itself, I can't help but think that puts a damper on the enthusiasm that a recruit would feel in getting said offer. Woo hoo! I am a fallback option at Michigan...

Then again, Saul has shown interest from the start and I am sure he feels more invested in this recruit than someone who just jumped on board to cover their open scholarship allotment.

Guess we will find out soon enough...

Looks like he may be a fallback option to a fallback option to back up Caris Levert.

A lot depends on what Stauskas announces today.

I think Goodman had pretty good intel that Stauskas was gone. Horford transferring, McGary and GR3 should be gone also. That leaves a pretty depleted team on paper. Not sure what else they got coming in.

If Stauskas leaves they still have Irvin, Albrecht, Levert, and Walton Jr. in the backcourt as well as three wings coming in from the early signing period. The big holes appear in the front court, at least to my untrained eye.

Good point Mike.

I am not sold on SPike. Indiana native but that is a big drop off vs other BIG guards and the NCAA in general. You are right...the front court is deficient. McGary should have jumped after his frosh year. His draft potential is waning daily. I think he has to go this year to retain any value/future.  Beileins system favors spike but we saw how well it worked with a guy like Trey running the program. It is going to be a hard year up there for fans who have become accustomed to the current trajectory. Garry Harris declared from Mich State weaking them a bit with Payne and Appling going but that rivlary is going to be strong with Zach Irvin coming on strong (Mr Basketball Indiana ) and getting his game on. Bacari and those assts are getting really good results from palyer development which is creating a recruiting plus for them.

I think your untrained eye is just fine.

Stauskas just announced hes going pro (along with Glenn Robinson III).  Sounds like Michigan will have a few open Schollys.

In the article listed above, he states he got to meet strength coach Jon Sanderson, Sanderson used to be a Bobcat, Michigan seems to like fishing in our pond.

Andrew - I hate to say anything on here as I don't feel like part of the club.  My posts usually get put down hard.  But, I probably can safely answer your question.  Pretty sure Jon Sanderson is UM's basketball strength coach.  He was around the bench area during the NCAA Tourney.  I saw him on TV during that time.

Newark Advocate had a nice article a month or two ago about how Caris Lavert credits strength coach Jon Sanderson for getting him ready for a much-improved sophomore season. The headline and article, unfortunately, mentioned Sanderson as an ex-buckeye and nothing about his time at The Ohio University.

I don't doubt it is true, it just surprises me.  I guess I expect strength coaches to be giant ultra fitness guys, who often were never very good in-game athletes.

is there a protocol or unwritten agreement among coaches in regards to how recruits are handled during coaching changes? I read where Caris LeVert was upset with Groce because he didn't try to bring him to Illinois and I wonder if that was because JG didn't think he would be a good fit there or did he not take him as a show of respect for his former employer? Along those lines, I haven't heard anything about Jim Christian pursuing any former players or recruits from Ohio either. Can/should we expect him to offer any of our recruits if he opts out?

I ask because Taylor was originally offered by NDSU but now that offer is no longer out there. With Saul's replacement being his former assistant is it safe to say that they had a conversation before hand so as not to step on each other's toes and is that normal?
