He was part of Pick Centrals state winning team last season before he went to Gahanna. Dude has major potential and I totally would consider giving him a scholarship.

I might be high on him as he was at my high school, but i'd be stoked if he joined along with Tariq Owens. They would easily replace Jon Smith and Ricardo Johnson.

Scout shows offers from Akron, Dayton, Kent and OHIO.

This is Stevie Taylor's high school, but if he just transferred in I don't know about any connections... Also, I seem to recall another kid from Gahanna going to Akron, but I may be off there.

he went to my high school at Pickerington Central and was apart of our 2012 championship team with Caris Levert, and I don't know the reason why, but i know he had to move to Gahanna.

Its an insider article, so ill just quote this one line.

Quote:expand_more
“The schools talking to me the most would be Dayton, Butler, Kent State, Akron, Xavier, Iowa, and Rutgers,” listed Bess.

Its almost impossible to beat out high major elite programs for recruits.  Every once in awhile it happens, but normally, next to impossible.  That's why we should be grateful to get Ndour.  He's a real steal.

We'll know soon enough, November 13, whether Owens really is going to sign.

Transferring away from Michigan State. Maybe KK can give his former teammate a call.

Probably out of our pay range, except that his standing has been hurt by injuries. Says he decided to leave after meeting with Izzo, can only guess what was said. With the injuries, might be in the discount isle now. With the entire OSU freshman class seemingly out the door, Thad might also kick the tires, although in conference transfers are very rare.

Saul might also have to get Stevie Taylor on the horn. Bess went to Gahanna Lincoln.

Let's say they got him to come to Athens, he most likely couldn't play next year, right?

Saul can convince this kid he can be a player of the year in the MAC someday. He helped turn Tone into one. I believe Jaaron will be POY next year and then Bess will have 3 more years. Can you imagine in two years a lineup with senior Jaaron Simmons, juniors Gavin Block, Doug Taylor and Jordan Dartis and sophomore Javon Bess? That about covers the positions with a stretch 4, point guard, 2 guard, small forward and center. Then you've got seniors Laster and Harley, juniors Dozier and Gollon, sophomore Jason Carter and a couple of frosh!!! Of course I'm just dreaming right now :)

Let's slow down for a minute. Is this the same kid that came out of Gahanna 2 years ago? I dunno. He's missed most of the last two years with injuries. Izzo throughout Bess's time at MSU praised him for his work ethic and toughness. What's changed to the point that Bess saw a limited future in East Lansing? My guess, and this is only a guess because I haven't seen him play in person, even in practice, is that injuries have taken a toll.

I am certain that Saul and co. will perform their due diligence before making any decisions about pursuing Javon. If he can get back to where he was, and Saul feels he's a good fit, great. But don't expect miracles. I am concerned that when he did play at msu, BESS COULDN'T MAKE FREE THROWS. Yes he improved year over year, but 57% ('15-'16) is still not good. Certainly not a recipe for winning basketball, or POY at any level.

Yep, point taken. But this kid ain't Shaq and he won't be playing with Kobe...

Seriously, I look at three stats, teamwise, because I feel that if these 3 are positive you'll always have a good shot at winning. First, turnovers. Second, rebounding. Third, free throws. More games are won or lost at the free throw line than most of us realize. I believe free throw shooting was a major reason for the Bobcat's success this year.

I won't argue with your opinion here, but rather add to it by saying I'll put defense in the middle of all of that. I'm not an advance metrics follower, but being able to get stops when it matters, either at the end, or to stop a run, is one of the most important things in college basketball in my opinion.
