I've been waiting for this day since I saw him play in 8th grade, which he was dunking in.

I don't know this kid personally, but I've heard 100 stories about him since he grew up in my hometown of Malvern, OH and was slated to go to high school there as well (his mom is an alumnus). Pretty sure his Jr. High teams won back to back conference titles in 7th and 8th grade. They had a proverbial 3-headed monster with Jayvon and two other solid ballplayers.

Unfortunately, while the other two made the jump to varsity as Freshmen, Jayvon was lured to Akron SVSM, for obvious reasons. My high school is a small D4 in basketball and while we have a great tradition of going far in the tournament nearly every year, playing against that small competition probably only gets you so far. Can't blame Jayvon for that. I just hate how the system works. Plus we've never won a state title so there was some hope his class might guide the school there.

He's a great player, first off. My guess is he's headed for bigger things than the MAC, but that's just me. Who knows maybe we'll land him and he'll be back in the green and white someday (my high school has the same colors). Just glad to see a familiar name pop up on this board.

Here's one of his dunks from Jr. High:

More dunks:

Variety:

Trying to think of who he reminds me of when he plays. He shoots kind of effortlessly and is deceptively quick.

If he was, Simmons put on a masterful performance and hopefully that sways his opinion to what he can be at PG.

Gotta think he is right near the tip top of our recruiting board for next year.

You've got to believe that either he, or another PG has to be a necessary addition in the next class. Maybe even two PG capable players?

This kid knows he can come here and lead our team and earn a shot at the NBA or a $500,000 contract like DJ Cooper. Warning, don't be Will Thomas. Go where are wanted not where you provide depth. The coaches need to keep explaining their vision for him and how we have a dozen point guards play over seas in the last 15 years and he is just as talented, if not more. Xavier is played out and their guards go no where. Go Cats

-Xavier has had 12 draft picks since 1990.
-They've been to six Sweet Sixteens since 2004
-They moved from the MCC, to the A-10 to the Big East all in a span of 20 years.

How exactly are they played out? And you do realize their guards that don't get drafted ALSO go overseas and play, right?

I don't fear losing Graves to them until they officially offer. Right now I'm worried about beating out Toledo, Kent, etc.

As much as I dislike X, I agree. I also agree that a player probably has to assess where they'll be able to get playing time. The only think I think Kent and Akron have going for them is the close to home factor for this player. Toledo is a different story, where it's worth noting that they have three PG's on their roster right now. Not sure how that factors in, but it's worth noting.
