Jordan hits game winning, off-balance shot to win game in Italy. This kid is a winner.

I can totally see a starting lineup next year with Kaminski, Simmons, Ryan Taylor, Tony and Dartis. This would be such a fundamental, pick your poison kind of lineup. Teams couldn't double down on Tony because he would kick out and Kaminski would make you pay. You can't play Jaaron 1 on 1 because of his driving skills. And Dartis just puts it all together with his leadership and toughness. Cannot wait to see this kid line it up.

Have you seen Jaaron play? Is he at a level where most D1 point guards cannot guard him? Can't wait to see him shake Adam Silver's hand if that's the case.

Jordan is going to be a freshman next year and you have already decided that he will be a leader? Just like that?

I don't mean to sound like a hater because next year's underclassmen represent a great deal of potential to be a dominant MAC team, but the key word is 'potential'. Once again, this level of rampantly high expectations will likely set you up for great disappointment.

I saw jaaron play in high school which is good enough for me. Kid can take to the rack and is a true distributor. I was simply stating that Dartis appears to be a winner who will not just sit idly by whule upperclassmen dog it or dont work hard if that happens.

A lot of people look good in high school.

Without reading this entire thread (again), are there any concerns about Dartis playing PG? With our latest recruit, this means the earliest we'll have a true PG on the roster other than Simmons is 2017 (Simmons senior year). We'll need Dartis or someone on the incoming roster to be able to play significant minutes at the point.

I'm glad you brought this up. I was thinking it too. While I'm not bothered by the commit of Carter, I had assumed the 2016 Scholly would naturally go to a ball handler. I'm not a basketball talent expert, so I can't comment on Dartis' ability to run the point or handle the ball, but you have to assume Saul is comfortable with at least a couple kids on the roster handling the ball besides just Simmons.

Also, if you look at the stats for NDSU, Lawrence Alexander played over 34 min/game in all four of his years in Fargo. You'd have to assume Simmons will be put into that kind of role in the next three seasons.

Ryan Taylor played significant minutes at the point as a True Freshman. It's not his true position but he can certainly handle minutes there as needed.

If you look at the classes we lose a bunch of size in 2017 (Campbell, Mompremier & Kaminski) and no guards. While a PG is absolutely needed the other 2 almost have to be bigs.

I'm more of the mind that Kirk steps right in at point. Dartis stays at SG. Laster battles Block for minutes at SF.

I would tend to agree. A gut feeling would say that Kirk, when he was recruited, was probably given the nod that Jaaron is leaving, and he's gonna be the starter here. That's one possible way to get him over some of the schools recruiting him.

Or Butler. He was just named 5A player of the year.

I'm with DCF. If Dartis is running the point it means that Kirk/Butler aren't what we hope they are. I think Laster will be the first man off the bench but will play a ton of minutes. I see Dartis, Carter, Taylor, Laster, Block and Kirk/Butler getting 20+ minutes. We will probably go with an 8 or 9 man rotation so that leaves two or three open spots for Vander Plas, Gareri, Gollon, Kirk/Butler (whichever one doesn't win the starting PG spot) and Mickle to battle over.
