Likes the 3 ball... As he should, considering he made every shot he took in the videos. ;)

Welcome Mason!

NEO article was complimentary. Said McMurray is a "late bloomer" who has become a Div I prospect during his junior year and this past summer. Before that, he was getting mostly Div 2 attention. Since becoming a Div 1 prospect, he received an offer from Loyola of the Missouri Valley and High Point. Not sure what other offers he had received.

NEO article said that he has good hops and is good at receiving post passes aND making moves to the hoop. Indicates he's now considered one of the better forward prospects in the state.

I hope he works out and I have no reason not to trust the current staff, but does anyone else find it weird that our first commit is a guy with no composite recruiting profile and no other reported D-1 offers besides High Point?

This one seems to have come out of left field to those of us who follow the message board on a daily basis. It just goes to show you never really know what's going on unless you're on the inside. Looks like he has three-point range, some mobility and likes to dunk. Does anyone have Mason's junior season stats? As for him being unheralded to us, so was Caris Levert when he committed. And we know how that turned out, talent-wise.

Kid looks like AJ Gareri 2.0. I don't think we can have too many 6-7 to 6-9 guys who can post and shoot. Vander Plas, Carter, Gareri, McMurray -- can all shoot and board. I would still love a slasher to play the 3 spot and another big man.

not really. among the first commitments for the football class of '18 was a QB who had no other FBS offers (although some on this site are raving about him). That's the way it goes nowadays in the minor leagues. I hope they both have successful careers here...

If my memory is correct, in his previous job Saul had a kid who was very lightly recruited who went on to become conference POY...

You're leaving out Loyola.

His toughest adjustment will be guarding the three position. He could be like KK.

Seems like each class Saul has signed has seen one out of left field. Hopefully this kid blows up even more and we caught him earlier than everyone else.

That's what we have to hope for.

Much better look at his overall game in the NEO spotlight video. Looks like he likes crashing the offensive boards which is something we desperately need. Moved the ball well. Good hops.

Well - that was a lot harder to find than I thought it would be...... a "Bigfoot Light" mystery type?

Maybe so far under the radar - not even possible to be on a radar!

Short preview of the season for Mason's team. Mason is featured in a video at the bottom.

Haven't seen this thread until just now and while I know my stereotype of our recruiting tendencies are not accurate across the board (and often criticized)--as I read this link and watch the video, it's matches my perception to a T.
At the same time, I hope we're just faster to the punch, smarter and we hit a homerun with this young man.
