They just played Lepear Toles team recently. Indian River won, Toles had 26 though. This could be a future match-up for years to come. Go Cats
The Akron/Ohio rivalry is going to be very intense in the coming years.
I'm curious about that and how it shakes out. One reason I'd offer to disagree with that is the fact that essentially zero current students even know who he is. Flip side, all of the non-students do.
Do they know where the Convo is? What happens in it if they do know where it is?

Based on how poorly lit it was a week ago, I'm not certain anyone not living there would even know it was open at night.

A tall guy with the ability to handle the ball on the perimeter and shoots well from 3.

I feel like there is a pattern here.
Was a HS PG before he grew half a foot ....late growth spurt in a guard with established skills is never a bad combination
I had mentioned to someone in PM that he must have grown a ton because he looked like he was about 6' in some of the highlight videos. Guard skills and mentality is always a plus IMO.
Here's an article mentioning that very thing when he was in high school. Used to strictly be a three-point specialist until he grew. He may still be getting familiar with his new found frame by the time he gets to Athens.

Nice find. After reading the article I called my Friends in Ft Dodge. Old article but they definitely remembered him and had great things to say about his skills. Kept growing too... I liked Mickel I think I am gonna feel the same way about this one.

Indian Hills is playing in the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in Mesa, AZ this weekend. They got a win in the first round last night over College of Central Florida. Connor had 6 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

They'll play host Mesa Community College in round 2, a team they beat earlier in the year 105-82.

IHCC won the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout. Connor got 17 minutes in the first game, 2 in the second and none in the third. Hopefully nothing happened recently that would cause his minutes to tank, as he was just starting to come on nicely I think.

I'm guessing Connor is injured, as he has not played in Indian Hills last several games, even lopsided games.

I've been wondering if that's the case too, Jeff. I've also wondered if he would sit now that he knows where he's going to school? Or if it's possible he enrolled at Ohio early? But it's probably an injury.

[sarcasm] So, now our recruits don't wait to get to Athens to get injured, they get injured before they get here and then hobble around once here and start off with a medical redshirt. [/sarcasm off]

Seriously, though, this injury bug has got to stop sometime, somewhere. It's gotten out of hand.

Connor had five points and two assists off the bench in his first game back from an ankle injury (missed five games). IHCC is now 21-0 and ranked #2 in the NJCAA.

Indian Hills finished the year 33-0 and the unanimous #1 team in the country. Now they'll wait to see where/who they play in the NJCAA Tournament.

Impressive. I think this kid will be as impactful as Mickle. Looking for a good career here.

I like to hear that. I'd take 6 kids like Kevin Mickle on OUr team all day. I would have enjoyed seeing Kevin in The Convo for another couple years.

I just worry that if a guy can't sniff the court on a juco (even with it being the top Juco) how can we expect him to sniff the court at the D-1 level (and a 10th ranked D-1 league at that)? I hope we get an impact and I am going to try to be optimistic but between he and Springs, we are getting two of three recruits who COMBINED average about 8 points per game. If they can't score in high school/Juco, they will have trouble scoring at OU -- just a prediction.

I haven't seen any of the numbers for any of these kids other than McMurray, but I wouldn't think that their points per game is be the most important thing as it relates to their recruitment.

Questions I wonder about:

How many minutes are they playing while getting the low PPG number? How many minutes per game is everyone playing on those teams? Are all of the players on the JUCO and HS teams playing equal-ish minutes? How many who are playing more minutes are going to play D1 basketball on scholarship?

Indian Hills gets the #1 overall seed in the tournament and a first round bye. All games played at Hutchinson Community College. Their game will be March 20th against the winner of Barton and Tyler.

FWIW, it seemed like Connor was a regular in the rotation and had a couple big games scoring double figures and shooting well until he sprained his ankle midseason. It's possible he just wasn't the same after that depending on the severity of the injury. And I have a hunch since Ohio already signed him at that point he didn't want to risk further injury, which is probably completely wrong.

Trust me...I hope he's an impact player as well as Springs. To have a 6-7 shooter would be nice. A little MacAdams/Kretzer combo with Block and Murrell!

With Murrell, you also have to look at his junior and senior years of high school. He was a very good player on a successful team at a good program. Indian Hills wouldn't even take him unless he was good.

I'm guessing Indian Hills could have beaten dozens of NCAA Div I programs this year.

Hope he works out for Ohio.
