I don't debate UB, but I might also throw BG into the conversation as one of the teams to beat this year. They return most of their core players other than Wiggins from a year ago.
I would definitely include BG in the conversation but I was keeping this conversation focused on Buffalo since they seem to be the ones that we are keeping with for this recruit.

Agreed. I'm admittedly a thread drifter....

Just remember Nigel backed out of the Washington State offer when the coach left so, not really his fault on that one. Personally, it doesn't bother me much that he is testing the waters to find his best fit, as long as it means he doesn't flake out after one year because he doesn't play as much as he thinks he should... I specifically say that because, even thought he shows tremendous physical skills, keep in mind he has only played organized ball for 3 years. Seems to me he would be a perfect choice to red shirt while the GT transfer holds down the fort for one year.
There are so many things we don't know right now... How is Nate Springs coming along? Would Nigel be able to play from day one and help us without red shirting? What combos will Jeff play and what will our "big" needs be? I'll admit it, I'm excited to see how it all plays out!

I would agree with this for most of the years I've been following Ohio basketball (Danny Nee once said one of his biggest regrets as Ohio's coach was not redshirting John Devereaux for the same reasons you give for redshirting John). However, in 2019, with players transferring at an alarming rate, I don't think that is a good idea.

Not knowing anything other than skimming this thread, it sounds like this young man is a probably a lock to attend more than 1 college during his career. Tariq Owens, Jr? Who knows, but this seems drawn out.
Things worked out well for Owens, starting for an NCAA runner up.

Agree. Unless an injury is involved, play them now as there is going to be player attrition every year.

Is this entire thread predicated on the fact that Boals followed Nigel on Twitter? We don't have any reported sightings of him on campus, nobody has reported an OHIO offer, and no recruiting sites even list us as involved. I'm curious where all the speculation around this recruit is coming from.

Update from 6/28: https://twitter.com/ARHoopScoop/status/1144672221245452290

Nigel John @NigelJohn_NJK (6-10, 260, center, Weatherford, TX) told me Arkansas reached out to him today ... John signed an LOI w/Washington State for c/o '19, but was granted a release in March ... unclear if he stays in '19 or re-classes to '20 ... Pitt, KState, & Tulsa offers

I wouldn't expect him in Athens any time soon.

Pitt is out of the picture, but UB enters the sweepstakes.
Hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if UB gets his services.
Why so?
Probably not now. UB just signed 6-7 transfer from UC with 3-4 years of eligibility.
