Having lived in New York my entire adult life, I can tell you that kids who play at small schools or private schools can fall through the cracks. There are just so many schools, so many big schools, that they just may not get that much attention. So I would err on taking seriously a baller who puts up big numbers in this state.
Along these lines, I'm still kicking myself for not knowing about Wally Szczerbiak, who put up huge numbers playing at a small school 40 minutes from where I live. I was managing a recording artist at the time and wasn't piped into Long Island high school hoops at all. I would most definitely have alerted our coaching staff if I knew about him.
