247's composite rankings have Roderick at #5 in Ohio, and #167 nationally, ahead of Jeremiah Francis (UNC) and Miles McBride (WVU):

https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Basketball/CompositeRec...

I'm guessing that makes him our highest rated recruit since Diante Flenorl.

Daaaaaang, Boals is off and runnin!
Never any doubt, his energy and intensity are no different than when he played. He is a leader and a worker.
This. And it's an understatement. We all know Jeff gets after it but Coach Boals is a fantastic leader of men as well. I loved playing for him and (obviously) so do/will these guys.

What a tremendous start to recruiting.

A backcourt of McDay/Preston/Dartis/Roderick/Price? Good lord I haven't seen that kind of talent since the NCAA tourney years.

I have to keep reminding myself not to put the cart before the horse. Recruits don't automatically translate to results - but man it's easy to be excited about this team already.

Still Need. Some. Bigs.

Agree - give him the keys and let him work and grow with Roderick and Price. - let Preston run and score in the second wave.

Fun times are back

Preston at point, Darty at the 2, Roderick at the 2/3, new post and BVP at the 4/5 with a second wave of McDay, Price, Murrell and McMurray. Toss in a transfer or Safford as well. Let Springs get another year.

Anyone know why Cowart is still listed in the recruiting grid? Did Kirk and James get picked up?

How refreshing to come to this page and see we are winning recruiting battles where the second choice for the recruit isn’t Findlay, Elon and Wisconsin Technical College. Folks, there is a new man in charge and he’s already made quite the splash.

Just guessing but until the three you mention actually transfer, I would guess they'll remain on that board. I'm not certain, but just because they put their name in the portal doesn't mean they are transferring, or their scholarship is taken. Obviously, they're return isn't likely because they chose to put their name on the portal list.

My thinking but have not seen that many leave at once before.

Nice! Born a Bobcat - forever a Bobcat. Now, actually putting on the green and white to represent the Bobcats. Gotta love it. Welcome "home" Ben!

A big welcome to Ben. Both parents (adoptive) are Bobcats, being coached by a Bobcat. All this helps nurture an environment that encourages the same pride and loyalty we all have in our university. The type that breeds players like Tommy Freeman & Jordan Dartis, who identify as a Bobcat first and a basketball player second.

Really like the way he glides to the rim on finishes. You can tell the lefty touch around the basket is a problem for defenders. Great range and a nice pull up jumper from inside the arc. Shooting motion may be a tad slow, but he could take his time and drill it against the smaller defenders in those videos.

Honestly, at first glance he looks like a shorter and quicker version of Buffalo's Jeremy Harris.

Darty is going to LOVE playing with these young pups. Preston, Price, Roderick and McDay!!! Darty won't have to play 35 mins a game and he can feast on 3s.

Still need some bigs that will draw attention in the lane, but this has been a great start to the recruiting period.
I've said this in the past and will again. Do NOT count on Jordy to be back. He has not been released to practice yet. He had SEVERAL surgeries last year . Was watching him play "ball boy" at the last couple of home game warmups this season. Fielded the rebound, attempted a "move", and passed out to a shooter. The "attempt" was ugly to say the least. I know he wants to. But I don't look for it to happen. :-(
This would not surprise me either. The guy has been put through so much physically over the past year. I'm still holding out hope, but our expectations should be tempered here with Dartis.

For him, I just hope he's able to get healthy, and get a deserved senior year and senior day send off. Even if it means he only plays part time.

BUT, if he can't get all of that, I hope he gets his body back to health to have a good quality of life for the rest of his life.
