Hate that UB gets Arizona...a team that was clearly not seeded correctly. Should have been a 2 seed. Really thought UB could have made a run to Sweet 16, but I don't see them taking down 'Zona. Then again, the experts never gave OHIO a chance against G-Town. Really thought Bulls should have been a 12 seed. Oh well.

I think Arizona is just fine seeded where they are, maybe they could have been a 3 seed. The PAC 12 isn't that great of a league and who would they have replaced as a 2 seed anyway?

I think the issue Buffalo people are having is being a 13 and not a 12, not that it's Arizona being a 4.

Agree on both counts. Buffalo is playing like an 11 or 12 seed. They've got a chance to prove it on Thursday night.

Davidson winning A10 I think really hurt UB seeding. If they don't win it, I think UB is a 12.

Funny thing is, if Davidson doesn't win then the Arizona rival, Arizona State goes from barely making it, to in comfortably. It's just easier to say that Bob Hurley is to blame for all this. He even screws over his former team.

Seeding matchups are especially critical for the mid-majors. I’m still of the stated opinion that Groce may still be in Athens had we gotten Michigan State as OUr first round opponent in Nashville. Not implying that the Bulls are incapable of knocking off Arizona but dealing with their size and strength inside will be tough to overcome. I think the Bulls are built, have depth and talented enough to make some noise in the tourney. Just think their opening draw a tough nut to crack. Liked the Bulls chances much better if it had been one of the other 4 seeds Gonzaga, Whicita State or Auburn.

No doubt the matchup impacts how deep you go in the tournament. For Buffalo, I think they are very capable of matching up unlike some of its mid-major peers but still is an extremely tough draw. Would have preferred seeing Clemson or Ohio $tate over Arizona I would assume......

Oh he did...something like..."F-that". I would have said the same thing. UB got really screwed on this one. One of the worst possible matchups they could have gotten. Should have been a 12 seed.

What a horrible draw! This may help keep Oats in Buffalo.

Unless they pull off a win, or push Arizona to the final minutes. That might accelerate his departure from UB. I don't know if he will be, but I still think he should be on the list for the Pitt job. Just seems like a logical fit.

Oats signed a new 5 year deal week of MAC Tournament. I know coaches can get out of contracts, but he really seems to like it there. I think he'll be there for at least one more year.

Kinda strange and not sure if anyone else is aware, but Coach Phillips and Coach Oats have some weird ties. Oats also coached in Wisconsin for a period and his wife also had cancer recently.

I'm not questioning this at all and I know nothing about the details of that contract. All I'll say is, if Pitt calls, and says we're gonna offer you around $1.5+mil a year for 4-5 years to come to the ACC, I can't see him staying at UB. We'll find out in a couple weeks if there's interest in him.

Oats not hurting his cause at all tonite. Bulls up 2 at the half and the Bulls don’t look one bit intimidated by Zona. Impressive showing so far.

I am loving this! MAC not looking bad against the PAC! Ten points up against a team that allegedly can buy players!

As if they are not.... allegedly

I am impressed by the game plan and the execution. Players jumping to the shooting and dribbling hand and taking away drives. Weak side help and doubling the post. Knowing where the ball has/needs to go. Buffalo scout was really good and the players had it memorized.

Great analysis. I'd only add that Buffalo is being very aggressive and showing tremendous teamwork. They believe in themselves and each player is playing an unselfish game. This great basketball. Just hope they can keep it up for another 7 minutes.

Bulls empty the bench with a minute left and spank the U of A by 21 and it wasn’t that close. OHIO got some love with the mention that we were the last MAC team as a 13 seed to knock of a 4. Bulls guards were absolutely relentless. The get Kentucky next and I like the Bulls chances. Oats certainly enhanced his national profile with this beat down.

What do folks think about Buffalo's prospects against Kentucky. Will UV A be playing Buffalo or Kentucky?

They have a great upset formula and they're really good. They've got great guards, big men who can score, great coaching and outstanding defense. And their pace has to be hard to handle for any team. I don't know if I'd bet on them, but I wouldn't be shocked if they won.
